And which one looks better to you ?
1884-CC $20 Gold Liberty Double Eagle

1893-CC $20 Gold Liberty Double Eagle

And can you guess how many numeric grade points apart , if any ?
No need to guess why I didn't apply for the photography job at PCGS

Agree - the 84 looks better plus the scratch under the neck on the 94 is distarcting for me.

I'm not a member of CAC. I bought the '93-CC raw and recently got it back from PCGS. Previous owner bought it before TPGs existed in '82, If I recall. The '84-CC is in an earlier generation holder, also before CAC. That said, if necessary, I'd ask coloneljessup to handle that dirty work :), if looking to get JA's approval. I liked the '93 enough to buy raw. And yes, with the chatter , I wondered if it would straight grade.
Do they need holders ? I'm a happy holder.

So very likely original and PQ. Marks like that don't bother me too much if the coin otherwise has nice eye appeal.

From what I can see, they both look lightly circulated with the second coin a little more so than the first coin, so I'll guess 55 and 50. It's hard to tell the quality of the luster from your pics so this is literally just a guess.

Not sure about the grades, but I like the strike on the 1884.

A couple of you got one grade correct. I will tell you they are 8 grade points apart.

    55 and 45-50 on the ‘93.

Oh, and to add, I like the ‘84 better. Nice luster. Harder time with the pic on the ‘93.
I would run ‘em by JA. If they sticker, it will certainly be worth your time.
    Nice pickups!

I guess it's good that I don't collect gold, because I can't figure out how to grade 'em. ;)
