CAC grading results from SEGS crack outs

Thought some would find this interesting!
I purchased a handful of SEGS Morgan’s and cracked out some that i thought were worthy of grading.
These coins are all part of the 20 from my CAC Grading post.
Keep in mind that i didn’t send all of them, I positioned them in the first pic according to where they were in the original photo.
This would be a bit easier to understand if the photos were swapped but i’m not sure how to do that….

    Any reason you decided to not have the VAM's added onto the label?

    Very nice results. If I interpret the picture correctly - you had three upgrades, two straight crosses, one downgrade and one body bag?

    If I'm being honest, I've always thought SEGS was low key underrated.

    Early American Copper, Bust and Seated.

    @coinbuf I researched (asked here as well) and concluded that there was little added value for the Vams.

    @opportunity Agreed, i have found them to be fairly accurate

    Not bad! At least now they're in "market acceptable" holders. I listed some SEGS coins on eBay recently, but all of them were forcibly removed from the site by their moderators, despite my not including the numeric grade in the listing details. It was very frustrating to have all that work gone to waste. I used to be able to sell many SEGS graded coins on eBay, but they seem to be cracking down on that lately.

    Did your eBay listings include pictures of the SEGS holders/grades? I ask because I’m under the impression that sellers aren’t allowed to show the grades of non-approved grading companies.

    Seems I would have considered the VAM attributions to have a lot more value than you did.

    The problem with them is lack of consistency, especially longitudinally.

    The exceptional vam and variety attribution work of Larry Briggs/SEGS is to be commended. Probably he is tighter on coins with special attributions than with common coins where he may give an extra point or so.

    Yes. I did not cover up the labels to hide the grades. Had I done so, I may not have had the listings pulled by eBay. I’ll try relisting them with that adjustment when I get around to it.

    Reading back... you can list SEGS on eBay, you can't show the numeric grade in the pictures.

    Larry Briggs has his own business and reportedly hasn't been involved with SEGS for several years. Although the wording on his website references SEGS, parts of the site - i.e. the show schedule - haven't been updated since 2017. The coinzip entry lists him attending current shows: https://coinzip.com/dealerPage.php?dealer=1048

    The question of whether SEGS is still in business (and which SEGS, SEGS Inc, SEGS LLC, SEGS2021?) comes up frequently, e.g. :

    Their web site is back on the internet, but parts of it have 2019 dates. SEGS 2021 is registered in NJ.

    Nice results. I always found SEGS to be hit or miss depending on the series.

    They try to discourage the use of unacceptable holders but I have seen plenty on ebay; the idea was to prevent false and misleading grading, in a case like this that would not be true at all. If you provide the cac holders then the segs holders to validate the variety, that would be the antithesis of misleading but be very helpful. Rule fanatics should be befuddled when the intent of the rule is entirely meaningless as applied.

    I cracked a SEGS coin, once. It was one of the Seated Half Dimes for my 7070. It was also one of the first holdered coins I cracked... I had done Mint Sets, a PCGS holder, and one other so i was a bit concerned about damaging the coin with the hammer... i thought one or two good hits should do it. I ended up putting the holder in a vice and wrapping a small towel to catch the pieces when she blew... yeah... nah!
