1982 was a transitional year for Lincoln cents from bronze to copper plated zinc. The bronze cents weigh about 3.11 grams and the copper plated zinc cents weigh about 2.50 grams. Both kinds are common.

    Welcome to the forum.

Lighter cents are copper plated zinc. 3.1g ones are the copper alloy coins. The change was done mid-year. Newer Lincolns will weigh 2.5g.

The first generation of the 1982 cents had a composition of 95% copper and 5% zinc and weigh 3.11 grams. The second generation was 97-1/2% zinc and 2.5% copper. Because of this composition, these weigh 2.5 grams.

There are all kinds of 1982 cent varieties. Here is an article about them.

    Hello,
    I have a question, if I may.
How did you hear about the 1982 cent ?
What you have shown in this thread is a very good starting point of it's varieties.
Read up and keep up on this group because it keeps adding new varieties of the date.
The 1982 US Lincoln Cent will teach you things you need to know, without you even knowing.
I think there's eight or nine, each different in their own way, as said above.
    Cool

    A. Then put them on the Buy, Sell, Trade forum not here.
    B. They are teasing you. None of these are worth more than 1 cent.
