Wouldn't it be great if PCGS...

You can insert your wish here, but mine would be:

Wouldn't it be great if PCGS offered a variety attribution service on previously encapsulated coins? I would see this as a service where you send in the coin, PCGS attributes the variety and places a variety ID sticker on the holder, updates the coin in their online population, and now the coin can be properly used in a registry set without losing on OGH, a rattler, etc.

I'm of the same opinion as some, that its the coin that matters most and not so much the holder. However, the old holders can be nice and wanted by some for various reasons and PCGS would still make money from the new attribution service. I've been holding out on one OGH I should really re-holder for variety attribution, which should mean this service will eventually come out after I finally re-holder it for variety attribution.

Forgive me if someone has already suggested this idea.

Post the OGH and we'll attribute it for you! I like your idea. Since they're willing to do truviews while in old holders, maybe this will work out as well.

My wish is that PCGS starts + grading at every grade level. What's the point of having an awesome flawless VF if it can't be worth more than a crappy one?? :)

Allow tokens and medals submissions to go back under "economy" when the estimated value aligns with the max value on the PCGS submission form. They currently make you submit under "special issues" tier which is $65. That is not realistic for a large percentage of really cool exonumia, and I'm sure nobody here is submitting a hundred dollar civil war token while paying a hundred dollars in fees/shipping/etc.

You already have multiple VF grades. A 35 is worth more than a 30 is worth more than a 25 which is worth more than a 20. Do you really want a 22 or a 27?

Remove the 1873-cc NA from the seated quarter registry sets like they did with the seated dime set. Or at least create a separate registry without the 1873-cc NA like they did with the 1876-cc 20c.

Would open an office in Canada.

Every time I get coins back, our wonderful Canadian Customs office, charges me duties (13%) and every time I have to send in all the documents (copies of invoice, submission form and tracking details) and I do get the duties rescinded, but it takes a long time and is of course, a huge pain in the you know what.

VSS, Variety Slabbing Service, is already doing this. They do a great job, at a reasonable price, and the service is lightening fast. They're main niche is VAMs, but they do other varieties too. I don't know if they're accepted in the Registry Sets, but Great Collections accepts them. The owner of this service, @messydesk , is a regular here.

I'm not familiar with VSS slabs. Does someone have some pics that they can share?

The VAMSeal for coins already in a TPG holder.

If PCGS had a public relations specialist whose job to be proactive with announcements as to why they no longer will accept X variety, why they are cracking down on questionable color, why the 2023 Pins are only still in the hands of only a few, when will the 2024 coins be activated. You get the idea. Even when the Company was started – is was a large black hole of non-communication. Sure, you could stop David Hall at a show, or whoever was president (I could not even tell who is pres. now come to think of it) and ask someone. But most if any announcements came to the forum from PCGS reps speaking speaking at the annual PCGS Awards Luncheon (and of course – that no longer exist) I mean the number of threads over the past years - with a question, that has gone unanswered, is deafening. Let’s go back to when PCGS decided one day to just drop the 1922 no D weak reverse cent. That should have been a public announcement. But no, I had to ask the question and fortunately Heather responded with an answer, but is this really the right way to handle this??

I have used VSS a couple of times and have been pleased with their service. The only drawback I have experienced with VSS is that dealers do not recognize this attribution, I found out when I went to Grapevine a couple weeks ago. Collectors appreciate their service, but dealers wanted the attribution from the holder service.

I wish that PCGS would reuse the existing labels (saving the OGH labels) and solid gasket holders on reholdering service. I have not taken a shine to those finger prong gaskets.

I would think it great if PCGS or any grading company, would offer an opinion only with no guarantees, an attribution service from photos. Would it be exact, no, but I think it would be worth a fee. Some are hard to be sure of and help would be a benefit to some of us interested in such things. Of course, there are some coins without enough meat to determine and doubtful many would send them in, but if they are willing to pay a fee for rejection, sobeit. JMO

I wish PCGS would give more points in the registry sets to low grade rare coins.

My key 1874-cc dime in G-6 is worth a fraction of what a 1853 EF with arrows gets. I have heard that they try to tilt the playing field, because everyone cannot own rare coins, but this is just unfair!
Give me some more credit for having the patience to acquire the key collectable coin!

I see collections missing most of the keys but having high grade circulated common dates surpassing my set in rank.

In the end, it doesn't matter so much, This makes my collection more special to me.

I mean no offense to other collectors that don't see keys as a priority and appreciate generally higher grade coins.

There's a lot of spread in VF. 20, 25, 30, 35. Adding pluses would probably be trying to parse it too finely.

Those VF grades are just varying degrees of wear on the coin. You can have a super coin at any grade.
