Never heard of a coin collecting white alligator.

PCGS should slab these coins incorporating a unique alligator pedigree. ☺️

Last week, Thibodaux, a 36-year-old leucistic alligator, underwent a veterinary procedure to remove 70 U.S. coins inside him before they caused any problems.

Leucism is a condition that causes partial loss of all types of pigmentation. It's different from albinism because it does not affect the pigment cells in the eyes, according to wildlife officials.

    Smithsonian zoo in DC has a picture of what seems to be over a hundred cents inside the stomach of a sea lion. I believe the animal died. the effort was obviously to encourage people to stop throwing coins in the tanks

    I often speak to the causes of attrition and degradation of US coins and usually remember to add "misadventure".

    This was serious misadventure.

    Perhaps his condition was associated with zincoln poisoning.

    When I was a kid, an adult at the zoo was teasing a lion with a stuffed toy on a plastic stick. The lion managed to grab it and pull it into his cage. They had to sedate the lion to get it away from him. The idiot who started it was yelling that he wanted his toy back. The zookeeper calmly explained to him that the plastic shards could perforated the lion's intestines and kill him. The...er... special gentleman skulked away.

    Another time, we were at the dump in Old Forge NY. Another special gentleman wanted a better picture so he starts pulling the garbage bag away from the bear. The bear charged him and caused the crowd to stampede. Fortunately, no one was hurt... not even the special gentleman who thought taking food away from a bear was a good way to get an action photo.

    What's the difference between a Crocodile and an Alligator? A little change!
    Then of course there is the Alligator Purse selling around $500
    Would you prefer an official Alligator Wallet? Comes loaded with actual change from the Alligator...also around $500

    Glad the coins could be removed...some people don't think of the repercussions of their actions.
