    I casually collect Egypt under the Ottomans, 1909 - 1914. Described as: EGYPT, Muhammad V, 1909-18, 1 qirsh, 1327 AH year 3 (1911 AD) H, Heaton mint, silver, 0.0375 ozT, KM305.
    This may be my best example.

    I find the best coins when I am not looking for them- keep that in mind in your Egyptian search. And modern just might extent over a much greater time frame than you may have initially anticipated. Best wishes in your collecting endeavors

    For those a little confused by this thread, Heritage sold a great collection of Egyptian coins yesterday. The link below should take you to the results, sorted by value. Seems to me that the coins are not very expensive for what they are, all things considered. Although I have little doubt that long time collectors of the coins are still shaking their heads at the "crazy" prices.

    I don't have many but like the 1956 50 Piastres and believe I have either a VERY early strike or specimen coin....

    OI have several of the coins from the sale.

    Prices mustta been too high. ;)

    I didn't scour the list but didn't see some of the base metal coins from the '50's and '60's that are grossly underappreciated.

    Indeed all the coins there did good on the end prices.

    Edit: Sorry I was looking at the 1 Pound coin. Need better glasses.

    Strange as how a price can end for a coin on an auction, to me that never been on one.

    Edit to add: Also one have to add the extra 50% to that value, I have seen this on many of the coins on HA.

    @ELuis the melt value of the coin you linked is $2400.

    Also, the text under the price in your screenshot says “includes buyers premium”. Also, that premium is 20% currently.

    Yes, my bad, was looking at the 1 pound - Oops.

    The extra 50% that I have seen for many coins, is a price that shows in Green or sometimes in Orange or Light brown with the price i.e - well in this is not a 50% but was more commenting the extra if one end selling the coin:

    Aaron, it is a lowly 20 piastres PCGS MS65 that I won in the same auction that Andy got his two Nasser patterns. 🫣 (1923). We all love these series and this one was nice and cheap!

    Exquisite!

    Here's the 1922 100 piastres PCGS MS64 of that auction (he also had an MS63). In fact he had an amazing run of all the Fuad dates of 20,50 and 100 gold piastres along with the Farouk 1938, in a tremendous overall quality. I wish that this auction had taken place a few months earlier (or later).
