Long time Lurker here. Happy Holidays Everyone.

In November of 2023, I bid on and won a lot from Varesi in Italy.
This is my first purchase directly from Italy.
I paid for the coin in Late November and I have still yet to receive the coin, almost 2 months later.
I have emailed them and Alberto stated that it is delayed because of some government form that needs to be approved??

Has anyone ever purchased from Varesi before and had to deal with a long delay?

    Yes. This is typical for Italian auctions.

    Nothing to worry about. Agree with the above comment on Varesi's reputation.

    Furthermore for whatever reason the Italian government agency that deals with the export license is super slow at the moment. Bought a coin in an Italian auction in late September. It just shipped this past Wednesday.

    I bid in the same auction and won lot 462. Before I placed a bid I asked about PayPal,
    they do accept it. I asked about export issues, no problem sending to the U.S.
    Before my bid was accepted I had to send Drivers Lisence info, passport info
    and place/date of birth. They even needed the county. I won the lot and paid
    for it. After 10 days I asked for the tracking numbers. I was told they were waiting
    on the export papers. Due to weather and the Holidays, these would not be issued
    till the second week of January. I've Emailed two more times and was told that the
    Government office was busy. In other words, quit bothering us. You'll get it when
    you get it. I've bid in 5 auctions since Dec. 22. Won in each one and have received
    the coins. All European auctions. This is the last time I bid with an Italian auction house.

    Just ten minutes ago I received the tracking number for my
    purchase. 9 weeks after the auction. Post some pics of your
    treasure when you have it in hand.

    I finally received my auction winning today. Very pleased with
    the coin. Varesi 82 Lot# 462 Levinson VII-7a

    This is the second piece I own of this coin.

    Sorry I don’t post often. Yes I finally received the coin yesterday. Thank you everyone for your help.

    Let me see if I can post some quick photos with my phone. Sorry for my poor photo abilities but it’s much better looking in hand with tons of mint luster.
