Coins of 1891 ~ Official Thread

The was the final year of the venerable Seated Liberty silver coins. The only denominations left were the dime, quarter, and half dollar. The half dime, 20c piece and dollar had been discontinued or replaced in the 1870's.
The New Orleans mint started producing minor silver coins again for the first time since 1861. The dime is common but the quarter is a top 20 key date with only 68,000 minted. Half dollar production wouldn't resume at New Orleans until 1892 when the new Liberty Head (Barber) designs were introduced.

Great year and coins so far.
Here’s one of mine. Just noticed a tiny green spot on the reverse that’s going to need attention though. :-/

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
The photo doesn't do this 1891-S justice. It's very close to PL, and the fields appear to be somewhat concave.
@Crepidodera you have a great eye for originally.
Forgetting anything else that may have been minted in 1891?

My favorite specific year for collecting! I am trying to build a set of 1891 dated coins, including gold and some foreign. Below are photos of some well worn dimes plus a DDR quarter eagle I had the pleasure to work with.

Several folks have posted nice Morgan 91-S's, thought I'd add mine, including its current home. Originally hesitated to break out, but if I ever sell, don't think anyone would have a problem judging its grade & merits. I like how it stands out compared to other MS coins in the album and is a good benchmark to determining if others might be PL.
I wish this coin could talk!
VF20 upgrade replacing my F15 above. Tough date.
