Two-$2.5 Indian ms63?

I just picked up a $2.5 PCGS ms63 Indian (coin A) and when I compare it to my current ms63 (coinB)I ended up with questions because in hand the coin B looks far superior.

  • are the coins over or undergraded
  • could coin A be a fake

I know it’s hard to judge Indians from pictures but I would appreciate any insight from more experienced members.

B does look better. A looks AU by comparison, but I am not an expert.

Great Collections. I won the other 1929 $2.5 but it's still in the mail. GC has a return policy if you don't like the coin.

Kuwegg57: I agree with smudge I think A is au at best. I ended up returning the coin today.

If it's in the "right" holder I wouldn't be too fussy, it will be easy to sell when you decide to do so maybe with a marginal loss. No auction company likes to take returns. Afaik HA does not accept them.

All MS63 or any other grade coins vary on niceness within the specified grade. There are low end 63's , average 63's and high end 63's.

I received my 1929 $2.5 MS63 from GC today. Looks alright. This is a description from Coinfacts "The strike on a typical 1929 is very good although some specimens are not quite as sharp as the several issues immediately preceding this one. Many examples also show obvious signs of die buckling at the borders. Lustre is nearly always very good to excellent and the color is most often a rich yellow gold with a greenish tint. "
