I am not inclined to purchase raw packs on eBay but I came across this auction and it peaked my curiosity:

Not a fan of those corner folds from what I can see.
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.

Seller has sold quite a number of items below $100. So why not sell these individually to maximize sales value?
Seller has them titled as basketball? Hard to believe that's unintentional on a lot price of this size. This is no babe in the woods seller.
In my opinion the seller is throwing out some bait, trying to catch a fish the size of a whale. I wouldn't walk away, I'd run.

Speaking of which, you know how you might find a big stack of bricks at a construction site that reads "inspect carefully before you using; use constitutes acceptance"? That's what this guy should've done before opening a carton of 1972 O-Pee-Chee packs...there HAD to have been some visible damage on the outer box letting him know that going through with opening the packs was not not NOT a good idea?

I think I saw that and he was a straight up good guy on this one.
His channel is a good one for examples of bad luck - even with boxes that are FASC.
That was painful to watch, particularly the Aaron card.
Geez when early in the rip, he opened the one pack and found the Aaron, and he knew there were stuck gum issues, shouldn't he have proceeded with more caution? I've never had an experience such as this, but rather than separating the stuck cards haphazardly and quickly totally ruining the Aaron with paper loss, I think I would have tried some experimentation. Such as steaming or something like that. Which perhaps might at least separate the cards without paper loss. Maybe freezing the cards may have done it, i really do not know at all, but i would have at least tried it for crying out loud.
Also I would have checked the internet and past posts on this forum, for anyone's experience with separating cards such as this from stuck gum. Perhaps he already knew it was hopeless, but for $5,300 i would have still tried anyway.

72 OPC is notorious for gum bleed. Among the worst out there. Those who know know.
I recently ripped a box of 79 that came from a very reputable source/original buyer who kept it inside since, and the gum in every pack had seeped into at least one card completely. Basically, super-glued to the card.
Big bummer.
79 OPC is another year notorious for gum bleeding. In many cases, you can't tell from the outside either so a pack/box may appear perfectly find but if if was improperly stored at some point over the past 4-5 decades, ruined cards await. Another reason why opening vintage wax is risky business but still a lot of fun if you're lucky enough to find packs that weren't stored in a windowless warehouse or attic for summers on end.
