Hi,
I sold the following two very scarce Liberty Seated Dimes today.
The 1860-O is VF-20 in OGH PCGS.
The 1885-s is F-15 CAC PCGS
I am trying to buy rare $5.00 Liberty Gold.

I sold this lovely WQ to offset the cost of the coin that replaced it.
I am selling some other coins, mostly similar situations or just coins that don’t fit my core sets.
Nothing is as expensive as free money.
I sold over 1/2 of my silver hoard to offset the purchase price of the last 2 coins I needed for my slabbed circulated 19th century type registry set across the street (still need 1 more here at PCGS for the same set). I sold everything from a 1kg bar, 10oz and smaller bars, silver rounds, 5oz state quarters and junk silver 90%. These were the 2 coins I purchased, a no drapery seated half and a draped bust half dime

I recently started a thread with your exact frame of mind. I too, find it very hard to hold onto various coins in my collection for that same reason. To further my collection in value. Esp. when I would either cherry pick a coin/s.
Then flip them for a much higher value than the original cost. Also, esp when I would win these in a GAW (Give away) or in races!
Good concept, I would think anyway. More spending using house money, so to speak.

Turned around to sell it for $850!
It only cost me $25 to grade.
Total cost= $25.25c
Made a $824.75c profit!
Purchased many other coins later with those monies.

I put in what I thought was a low bid on the following coin and as luck would have it (I already own a nice example of an 1872) I won the auction.
I did end up selling my PCGS coin at the 2023 CSNS.

Lately, speared eagles and junk silver. In years past (2019 thru 2022), rolls of W quarters. I found them individually, sold them by the roll. It's hard to believe (it's hard for me to believe), I've funded all my key dates and completed entire albums with the coins I've found in circulation.
I never really considered myself a coin roll hunter. I always thought coin roll hunters were the red-headed stepchildren of coin collecting. Based on my above actions, I'm going to have to change my hair color. I'm an official CRH!

4 generic saints , 3 Krugerrands, 2 quarter oz eagles ( and a partridge in a pear tree ) ...to another dealer who claimed to be low on inventory, yesterday. Silver rounds and bars also went out last week.
Hmmmmmm. I'm thinking some came a day late. The price jump was costly. Buy low is the idea. Have said it here and on the PM forum for years. Oh, those replacement costs aren't cheap either ( with a price jump) . However , one could have saved some , if shopped in the beginning of the week instead of waiting til the end of it.

Better date coins are in demand. I have not been buying any coins for last couple of months due to market conditions. I do see a lot of material that in my view is over priced. Currency has been doing well.
On shows attended it appears the people coming in the bourse room have less to spend. Convo with other dealers - most offering 10-20 pct behind CDN Bid. One guy sets up near me lots of slabs (and buying cash) to keep it simple just takes his CDN CPG Retail magazine and offers 67 pct of that. Which then equates to his 50 pct average markup over cost in terms of target retail (CPG).

I sold an Omega watch that I purchased in 2003 and hadn't worn for about 8 years (since the Apple Watch came out). Ended up getting a few dollars more than I paid for it in 2003.
I ended up buying:
1) An Apple Watch Ultra
2) A $5 gold coin
3) and had enough to put 50% down on a $2.5 Gold Coin.

Sold some Classic PCGS Commems picked up from a recent estate deal to a regular investor customer. The proceeds to the bank go towards the next estate deal or what may walk up to my table on the bourse at next show. Some of it in to my general acct to pay for my food expenses this month / upcoming currency submission. My buying mainly opportunistic based on the deals that come up (quick flip or strong retail potential) as I already have slightly more than plan quantity slabs in inventory. Now if some Texas large size NBN come up and price is right….
I sold the coins from the 7070 I was working on and everything else of value and bought a Challenger. All I have left is stuff nobody wants. (moderns, mint sets, modern commemoratives) Saved my wife and son from having to deal with them down the road. Plus, we all enjoy the car.

I've been selling a large 'sock drawer hoard' accumulation for a friend of mine whose dad died recently. She's dumping the proceeds into the larger pot from the sale of her dad's house, upholstery shop, etc. in hopes of buying a getaway place in the Champlain Islands. My stake in this is some weekends at the eventual getaway place in the Champlain Islands, LOL ...
Haven't sold or bought any coins of my own since spring.
This is an interesting coin…. When I originally purchased it as part of a larger collection, it was housed in a partially damaged PC-OGH AU53 holder. I submitted it to NGC and it came back in the 58 holder as pictured.
I recently traded it(in late Aug.) to a fellow dealer for some much needed Seated Dimes. I was informed yesterday that it had just returned from CAC with a green-bean! So now he wants to re-sub it back to CACG for a Legacy cross… 😂🤷🏻♂️
