Different colors on 50 centimes banknote 1944, Algeria

Hi all!
I have a 50 centimes banknote 1944, Algeria.
It is #97a with serial number C2 # 369992
On the front it has a nice red color, but the other side is yellow.
What do you think, is that something unusual or just regular stuff? It doesn't seems as like paint that has lost its tint or faded in the sun. In any catalogues I had a look, it is always the same colors on one banknote.

    The color red is susceptible to fading. I suspect environmental damage, like fading from exposure to sunlight or a chemical solvent.

    I'm not sure that I agree that it's fading, but, perhaps, more accurately color change. However, it could be an error or unreported variety.

    Red ink used on large size U.S. currency fades but generally doesn't change color to orange. Chemical alteration would be what occurred but I'm somewhat skeptical of this, too. It would be difficult to expose the entire back of the note and none of the face so perfectly. The paper and printing on both sides look the same and unaltered. Very slight offsetting of the black serial number also appears on the back. This very faint detail was preserved on what appears to be original paper.

    I'd consider seeking other specialists' opinions and/or send in for certification as an error.

    Collector and dealer in obsolete currency. Always buying all obsolete bank notes and scrip.

    Our hosts, PCGS can certainly authenticate and grade the note, along with PMG. Visit their websites, check their prices and choose. Either way is a good decision.
