    I know what it sold for and where it sold. Do you think the apparent lack of bidding activity (as per your statement) was because the coin has a bit more mottled toning than most folks might like in a DMPL Morgan, the lack of a CAC sticker or the idea that it might not cross to PCGS?

    I believe the reason it did not sell very well was primarily due to the ridiculous photos Heritage posted for it. The coin does not remotely resemble their photos. The lack of a green bean means nothing to me and as far as I am concerned it never will again. Regarding the mottled toning, for me in hand it is beautiful and definitely DMPL. I do not ever spend the money to crossover coins. When I purchase them, they are going to remain in the original holder. I do not play that game as I do not have competition sets nor go for awards. I purchase the coin, not the holder. Anyway, I enjoy it.

    If you like it, that's all that matters. But I do agree with @TomB. Honestly I don't think it would cross at 67 although I struggle with the heavily toned coins. It seems like there are just too many marks/dings/scrapes at the base of the neck, on liberty's nose, and on the brow, and in the hair near the forehead for a PCGS 67, but it would help to see it in person.

    Nice pickup. I enjoy the olive green and cobalt colors. A very hard year to find in DMPL greater than a 64.

    In case anyone is legitimately wondering, the OP posted two or three sentences along with an image of a high grade coin and the images made it somewhat difficult to interpret the overall look or general eye appeal of the piece. The OP also specifically stated in those two or three sentences that the coin was a recent pickup and that no one wanted to bid on the coin in the auction where it was purchased.

    Given that the images were a little tough to interpret and that the OP mentioned no one wanted to bid on the coin in the auction, I asked my question about possible theories as to why there was so little bidding activity.

    To add to TomB's explanation, I was unsure of the point of the post but I offered some commentary to answer the statement about no one wanting to bid on it. No insult was intended, I felt it was objective evaluation of the coin. My initial comments might have been a little off-color as I was probably more-so expressing my affinity for bright white non-toned coins and PCGS holders and not acknowledging that it is still a nice and desirable coin.

    I sometimes wonder why people bother to post coins.

    @Zsmartie I am kinda bummed out that I didn't get to see your image. I recently purchased this PL coin. If the images are a problem try taking some new ones and posting them. It took me some time to take decent images and I still don't think they are that great.
    This thread needs a coin.

    I like this coin also. To the OP, opinions vary on this forum. Look to the positive!
    I don't want to see another person chased away from these boards or possibly the hobby.

    I think that the colors that are not visible in the pics would "pop" in a coin video, especially the reverse. I would bet this is one beautiful coin in hand!
