1883 P Morgan Dollar - Date has cuds, a very stylized 3 and odd 8's Grade or not to grade
Hello all,
I just wanted to see some differing opinion on this coin.
Mulling this over and I am certainly under the impression that this coin has some curious things going on with the date.
So many things; I see a 'ghosting' sort of a Number 1 just next to the minted number one. The 3 looks to be very different and may I say possibly re-worked some how? The 3 looks like it has some over stamping as well. Sure, your thinking this dreamer's gone a bit mad! ! You're not wrong, really but I think because of this perhaps I should spend (invest) a little money and just have it graded for errors? I'm just a novice having collected in my own way over 35 years and I thought perhaps there are others who are far well more versed that I'd ever be so here i am asking........ grade or not to grade?

Welcome to the forum.
I don’t see anything about the coin which would add any extra value.
And the cost of grading would exceed the value of the coin.
Mark Feld* of Heritage Auctions*Unless otherwise noted, my posts here represent my personal opinions.
Slightly reminiscent of an 1823 bust half broken 3... sort of?
🤔
How much do you think the coin is worth as it is now?
What do you expect the results of grading will be?
How much do you think it will cost to get those results?
After you get those results, how much do you think it will be worth then?
Those are serious questions. I hope that others will let the OP answer them before adding other responses.

jayPem, thank you for the input, I see a few things on the date and of course - the mind starts reeling.....
jonathanb - excellent questions - I placed them below with my answers;

I am hoping for favourable results. Perhaps some sort of error.
How much do you think it will cost to get those results?
$125-$150
After you get those results, how much do you think it will be worth then?
Difficult with this market from what my little taxed brain can make of it. Could be more, could be less, difficult to gauge for me.
Thank you all!
