My Double Struck 1968-D Lincoln Cent arrived today

I like it much better than the auction photos showed.
I am still at a loss as to why there is no TrueView showing up or why
there is no designation as to the type of error in the insert.

It was probably slabbed before Truviews. The error designation was probably not paid for so its not listed on the slab.

    Nice coin thou.

Is the holder cracked or just badly scratched?

Not scratched. The best I can tell is the center gasket is not round and the back shell has stress cracks because of it.
The overall integrity of the slab is fine and the coin is not affected.

Beautiful error and awesome coin! Yes, some scratches on the holder. The coin is great!

Do you really need an "error designation" on the holder?
It seems very obvious what type of error it is.

My 2023 Red Book says a "Multiple Strike" error on a Lincoln 1c (95% copper) is worth about $50 (page 443),
and "The presence of a date can bring a higher value." (page 441).

This suggests the overall value is comparable to the cost of slabbing, IF the premium for having 2 visible dates is not very high.

I would call it two errors for the price of one! 😉 Very nice coin! 👍🏻

I don't think I would price that with the Red Book. Especially given what this one sold for.

Error coins need to be priced on a coin by coin basis. Any price guide can not accurately price them because each one is different. Double struck cents are more common than on other coins. Its not extremely valuable and I dont know what it sold for, but I think around $100 paid for it would be a good deal.

    Cool error!

Vey nice, break out the P-touch and create the error label. Use the clear tape, it'll work fine. Peace Roy

Look on ebay. Ask was $400.

Nice coin. A premium may be gotten if someone needs it for a date year set of these. 64,65,66, etc.

The reason for no TrueView image might be that it was recently slabbed. Over the last year or two it has taken as long as a month after a coin is delivered for the TrueView to post (before that it used to be ready before they shipped it out).

There have also been cases (rare) where they miss the step of taking the photo or take it and miss the step of posting.
Maybe @PCGSPhoto can see if a photo exists.

@jmlanzaf Thanks. Ask is not necessarily what it sold for thou. They could ask for $10000, but it could sell for much less.

Double struck both sides (DSBS). And two dates/mint marks. Very nice coin. 👍🏻

Only the OP knows for sure. But based on ny ebay research, that doesn't seem to be the case. [Would you accept 25% of ask. ] I was trying to suggest people back off on their value judgments out of respect for the OP.

I used the term DSBS to denote “die struck both strikes”
Many second-strike coins are uniface on the reverse Due to another Planchet being fed under the previously struck coin, so That prevents the second strike from being die
struck on both sides of the second strike - also called “Uniface reverse”
    I hope that makes sense

I'll have someone look into it.

Most coins take only a day or two to get online now, so there is no significant delay. The only exception is oddly shaped coins such as these which aren't as easily automated.

Holder appears to be a GEN 6.0S (MAY-2015 to OCT-2020). PCGS Museum Reference
Key: QR code on back of label.

    My Take-Aways:
~ This was not slabbed prior to the advent of TV. In fact, TV were free with 'Secure/GS' for a majority of the time this holder was used. Reference
~ It was not recently slabbed. So, it is unlikely that the images are unavailable due to a processing 'backlog/delay'.
