Recent pick up.

What grade would you give this 1893s Morgan?

I will post the grade Friday morning

Thank you everyone for your comments.
I was surprised of the wide range of guesses from vg8 to vf20, details to straight grade.

Originally, I too thought this coin was details because of the rim dings however looking on PCGS photograde there are many straight graded coins with dings.

As a side note, I always have trouble verifying the lower grade 1893s for the die scratch top “T” and the rabbits ears on the left foot of “R”.

    I agree with F15

Always looking for attractive rim toned Morgan and Peace dollars in PCGS or (older) ANA/ANACS holders!

F12. I don’t think the rim issues are serious enough to have resulted in a details-grade.

    Given a straight grade, it's a VG8

Was thinking vg at best. On second thought, Mr. Feld has these pegged most of the time. So likely a just made it F.

Given it’s a key date. I’m thinking it is a shoe in for a straight grade too.

Moral of this thread is when you see a coin that you think should be in a details holder (no matter if it is or not), pass.
