lol,
Hi guys,
Yes, I just fortunately, sold a rare currency item (2013 $1 Duplicate Star Note) for $1200 and I received my prize in my bank TODAY!
Well, I already paid some credit card bills and gifted my beautiful wife with a sum as well.
Now, comes my joy to Reap in my Harvests!
:D
So, I would love to take $500 and buy a special coin for my collection.
What would you guys suggest?
I have an idea what I would be fond of but how 'bout you my friends?
Boy, is this FUN.
A nice problem to have, right?
:D
Thanks

I was leaning towards the super low mintages of those
    Seated Halves!
Even a lower grade by PCGS/NGC
    would definitely be an option.
    Some have 4000-6000 Mintages!
    Under rated coin, indeed!
    For $500, I can probably pick up a G-VG?

Put it away. Wait until You find that special coin. You’ll know but for now. Patience may be your friend. Remember, while you and I like the 2oz vault others don’t. Perhaps a big ole bar of silver bullion. Have fun. Thanks 🙏

Perhaps with your new eBay store you might want to put that away for the taxman. He’ll be visiting you. Just a thought 💭😎

I would opt for a proof Indian cent. Typical mintages in the low thousands, and available in PR64 red-brown for less than $500.

Many late-date seated halves have mintages under 10,000, but I believe that most of them (both proof and business strikes) were struck for collectors and have a much higher survival rate than usual for this series. Hence the reasonable prices.

You seem to like roll searching for errors coins as I did many years ago.

    Here is what I did.

I put all the profits of my minor error coins finds into buying a major error coin that would be impossible to find roll searching. I repeated this exact process probably a thousand times.

Free major error coins paid for with roll searching labor.

You could add some Libertads to your collection (if you’re doing a set). I’ve seen you post quite a few of them in the past.

For a second there I thought you managed to get a $500 note from the bank :D
If saving it or paying off something else is not necessary, I would suggest a nice Buffalo Nickel if you don't have one.
    Maybe a proof Walker?

I would pick a nice Braided Hair half cent in MS63-64BN. You don't have to choose between beautiful and scarce.

I am a newer collector (started April 2020), and I primarily focus on U.S. Half Cents and Type Coins. Early copper is my favorite.

Lol, yeah, that's what I been doing now, $500 box of quarters. Then, searching through them. Until I decide what to do with that $500!

These Panda proofs are really special and unique.
None made in 1986 & 1988. The '87's changed in metal contents.
The 87's are Sterling Silver, .925!
Plus, with the original container box, along with the serial number and w/paper certification!
The Mintage is Low as well.
    30,000.
Sold for much higher on Ebay, than what I paid for it!
    The earlier ones, 1983 - 1985,
    Have Mintages of Only 10,000!
    Some more info.
    Before the 1987's.
    They were 38.6 in diameter
    w/ .900 silver contents
    The 1987's
    40.0 in diameter
    Sterling.925 silver
    The 1989
    8000 Mintage.

Sorry @joeykoins, but I have to agree with @Steven59 I would never disparage you or anyone from buying what they like or want.

You were given some great suggestion and examples of some beautiful American coins. Although most of the crap in my house was made in China, I would never go out of my way and internationally seek out and buy any products made in China!!.. Including coins!!

I have a nice raw panda coin somewhere. Its colorized and over the 30 or so years I have owned it it has picked up some pinkish purple toning around the whole coin going about 1/2 an inch in from the rim. When I get home I will look for it and take pics.

To each their own, if you like it that's good, and if there is an upside that's even better.
Lots of good suggestions in here though.
My understanding is eight is somehow significant or lucky in Chinese culture so let's try to make eights in that serial number... two zeros is basically a sideways eight, three plus five is eight, eight is eight, four is half of eight... so.. there ya go.
