The audacity of scam artists these a days

Is it an 1898 or 1889 CC, either way the seller admits its fake but still tries to pass it by putting the wrong date on the listing smh.
If these scammers put this energy into good business they would be set for life.

    Hi there, Goldrealmoney79.

As an occasional eBay seller, I have made errors in my listings occasionally. I am an eBayer who will nicely report the error to a seller when I spot one and I have likewise been advised that I have made a small error in a listing I made. In a recent listing, I did a "buy it now price" but in the "description", I made it $2 more. Oooops. I corrected it as soon as someone kindly brought it to my attention. The auction viewer was thanked.

In this case, at the very end of the listing, the seller states, "This is a nice coin for your collection. The coin is a _souvenir _and not legal tender." This is also stated similarly in the listing title: "1898 cc Morgan Dollar _Souvenir _Inlayed With .999 Silver". So, though I would have perhaps made it a bit clearer in the description and not left it for the very end of the listing, I think the seller just "goofed". I'm willing to cut him a little slack. 😊

The word "scam" is overused here. While selling "souvenirs " is not generally a good idea, it's not exactly a scam to sell a replica as a replica.

Actually, selling counterfeit coins on eBay** is prohibited**. You can call it a replica, you can call it a souvenir, you can call it not genuine. It's still /a/ prohibited on eBay and /b/ against Federal law.

    https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/prohibited-restricted-items/replica-coins-currency-policy?id=5042

    What is the policy?

    Replica coins are not allowed
Counterfeit or altered coins and currency are not allowed, nor is equipment designed to make them
Only one-sided replica paper currency that follows these rules can be listed:

    • Size is less than 75% or greater than 150% of the genuine currency
    • The listing includes a photo of the actual replica paper currency being sold
    • The listing includes the word "replica" in the title and description
