    I have many, unless I quit collecting altogether and even then, I wouldn't necessarily sell everything.

    I will not say never sell, but I do have a coin that will always be last. My 1807 Draped bust Half Dollar. Single most beautiful coin I own and the only coin in over 40 years made my wife say, "Can I see That? Which after a moment of looking at my face followed up with, "No you don't have to go look in the basement for large pods!" It is a reference to an old movie. James

    This is interesting... A thread to which I posted shortly after joining this forum. :lol:

    As it turns out, I did sell the coin I referenced above and I have to admit I have no regrets. It was a joy to buy, own, and sell.

    I avoid using that word because it is a curse and usually comes back to bite me.

    I have many but if I had to pick just one, I would have to say, at this point in time, it would be my 1889-CC MS62. Mostly because I didn't think I would ever own a Carson City little less the King of the CC.

    At this point in my life and I am not very old I will not be selling anything will bring them all to the grave. I enjoy my coins and I do mean all of them. I never buy anymore unless I know for sure I would never sell that coin. I have been like this for 2-3 years before that I was buying and selling and had no serious discipline but when you find what makes you truly happy then you learn that discipline and you stick to it.

    I've sold coins I didn't think I would lose interest in it. I sold most of my South Africa collection to "cash out" after a big run-up. Wish I had sold the rest, as I'm not buying it anymore.

    Others I sold to focus on my pillar collection, but I consider this collecting "upwards". I don't have enough budget for it and anything else, if I ever hope to complete it which is doubtful anyway.

    There isn't another series or segment in a similar price range I'd rather buy, and I'd never switch to something else spending the same money which I consider collecting "downwards". If I changed my mind, I'd keep most or all of it and start buying something else.

    I don't spend coin budget on new "side collections" either. I have a few I was working on but almost never buy additions.

    6 GSA CC Morgans 1880-1885. All 6 are pretty baggy, but I bought them from
    a neighbor who was thinning out his collection. They rekindled my interest
    in numismatics after being out of the hobby for years.

    About 25% of my coins came from my grandfather, he was an avid numismatist. You might even know him ;) . I suspect he was on this forum, please tell me if you remember anyone that disappeared in 2010-2011. Here are some of his coins that I have from him.

    Probably this one. It's an 1839 1 1/2 Pence found in a small change purse that used to belong to my Grandmother on my Father's side. My family immigrated to the United States from Ireland in 1845 and this coin would be consistent with making that journey... it's also something my Grandmother would have held onto all these years.

    This 1797 cent. I dug it up in my back yard metal detecting. It isn't worth that much but I don't think I'll be selling it.

    1857-0 DE and 1806 HE.
    The absolute one that I regret selling the most was a 1862 HE, in PF-65. If I had it back, it would have been a keeper!
