Rim Nick Question

I got recently some "radiant cap above scales" type Mexico coins, on this one noticed that small nick on the rim:

All these coins with the intention to be sent for grading, will this affect an straight grade?

What does other side look like? Damage at 12:15 also.

Assuming a coin’s problems are not so severe that they preclude a numeric grade, everything affects the grade.

It does not look too bad at all, on my search for some of these coins all had some issues, found one that was saved on an envelope, but someone else got it first, it was perfect, so next time.

In addition to the rim bump the coin looks like it has been cleaned.

Agreed, but a little bit of cleaning does not usually preclude a straight grade. This one looks like it probably OK, at least from the pics.

@ELuis these are colloquially called “Balance Scale Pesos” in English, or “Balanzas” in Spanish.

I was able to change this with another one, but different year a 1871, just paid the difference, just want to avoid the "Details" tag, will see.

Also, been doing some search, here is another example have a look at the rim on the left:

With this one that graded 61, on the top:

So, guessing this detail might be passed.

And this is the list that I bought, only three coins of these Pesos Balanza:
1872/1 CH M UN PESO
1871 Mo M UN PESO
1872 Zs H UN PESO

and by the way one of the coins is seen to have been cleaned with a rubber eraser, the 1871MoM, someone tried to removed the toning, below on the image the left side, in hand it is very noticable.

note: these images are the ones that were avail when I bought the coins.

One more buy of coins with some issues, hard for me to gave me an idea of the condition, because at first sight the images do not reflect any issues, maybe for the non experienced, hope that some day will learned and do not spent too much on coins like these. So on this I just moving on.

On a side comment:
I went this past weekend to a coin show the same one by a numismatic association that I have been in the past, there was a new guy there, that brought for display only, some albums with coins on one there was 20 coins per page and 20 pages (400+), all with about 4+ coins of each period, 1/2R, 1R, 2R, 4R & 8R, he had all except one to complete a set of the hookneck type, a very amazing collection for sure and none of the coins graded.

On the 61 that isn’t damage, that’s as struck.

I agree with @Rexford. These crude rims are common on Durango 50c in particular, and probably other issues as well.

I'm pretty sure that second one deserves a Details grade though, due to the severe gouge to the right of the cap & rays. (But you say it got a 61?)

Yes, it is a 1871 Guanajuato MS61 Peso - NGC.

Yes, it is a 1871 Guanajuato MS61 Peso - NGC.

Pretty generous, if you ask me. But I can't see the coin in hand, so hard to be sure.
