A word of warning, that other poster who made the ms69 Lincoln and was/is asking $4800 on GC now has competition. I’ll be curious to see where the no reserve coin ends at.

It's all moot. It still comes down to how much someone is willing to pay for the coin.
I don't consider myself a noob, but if I really really want the coin I will bid it strong, what ever the venue.
Will I take into account the BP, of course. Will I limit myself to that, NO
I'm hoping that ProofCollection gets his price for the coin whatever venue.
    We'll see.............

I'm confused. I mean obviously there is a limit to what you'd pay for any coin, right? No matter how much you want it. I mean if guide is $1800, but you think it's worth up to $3500 (or $35,000 or $1200, the point is that there is some limit. There are a very few coins and a very, very few collectors who can say "Buy no matter what," but let's skip those now) then you'll bid $3150 at GC or $3500 on eBay, right? And the seller would receive $3150 at GC or $3500*91.2% = $3192 at eBay, right? Or am I missing something?

I'm not interested in that coin.
I was just making a statement about where he would be able to get the most amount for the coin.

Yep. As collectors we are all perfectly aware of what we want to spend on a coin. Sometimes there are coins where "price is no object, I have to have it" but unless a buyer is "made of money," they have to factor in and calculate the final cost and then calculate the bid/offer that results in keeping that budget.

Thought you all might be interested to know, I just accepted a Best Offer on ebay. I don't know if I should divulge the price but I am very happy and it is well above PCGS guide price. I'd still love to know what it would have brought at GC but it's worth the immediacy and certainty of a solid deal vs the unknown.

    Yes, I do
But to think that bidders do that all the time?
If you were bidding on Heritage would you hold back your bid by 20% or 25% because of the high shipping?
    Just saying........

    Yes. Every time.

Based on the prices realized you're not winning many coins :o

True, I bid much more than I win. But if I want a nice coin I am willing to pay above market value and I up my bid. But I still factor the buyer's premium into the equation. If I want a coin that is $1000 guide but I am willing to pay $1500, I don't bid $1500. I bid somewhere around $1350 to $1400 if the BP is 10%.

Yes, but you are interested in some coin that is at auction somewhere, or interested in selling some coin at auction, right? Still applies. Just change the numbers, but since I implied that a buyer would value that coin somewhere between $1200 and $35,000 I would have thought that was clear.

Congrats. Glad you got a number you’re pleased with. I would say other than for curiosity’s sake, the other options are now worthless (for you and this coin) and you can happily move on with your money.
