You will be able to get more for your coins selling to folks here than a dealer, but I think the task of selling here is overwhelming. Also, your prices are very unrealistic. So, shop your collection at local dealers, and lower your expectations. Better to sell for a little less than you hoped than not to sell at all.

1000 pounds of coins is a large amount of coins. If most of these coins are ones that are readily available in the market place with large surviving populations most of them will bring discounted prices below wholesale if they are sold in bulk (to a dealer, collector or investor).

Collector to collector sales of individual coins on the BST would likely be at higher values (provided the seller posts quality photos and offers a return privilege). If the coins have been graded by a top TPG that would likely create higher sale prices than if the individual coins are sold raw.

To maximize the sales prices for these 1000 pounds of coins, substantial time, effort and money would have to be devoted by the seller. Many who have such a large collection to sell do not want to put in the time, money and effort to do so.

Selling in bulk at a price that is well below wholesale to a buyer who is willing to take the entire collection merely means that the buyer is willing to put in the time, effort and money to place the entire collection into the market place. No such buyer will do so unless he or she can make money for themselves on a resale. Thus the low price the current owner can expect to receive in a bulk sale. Such a buyer may offer bid minus 40% or even 50% (thus for a coin with a bid price of $100.00 the buyer would pay $60.00 or $50.00) and once the collection is acquired he or she will quickly resell it to another wholesaler at bid minus 30%. /this gives the original buyer of the collection a quick profit of 10% to 20% of bid.

Taking 1000 pounds of coins to local dealers/shops to solicit offers may result in no offers being made (if the local dealers/shops do not want to purchase such a large collection). Thus it may make sense to have the collection reviewed and broken into smaller parts (i.e. all of the Modern Commemorative coins in OGP minted since 1982; and all of the 1968 to present proof and mint sets in OGP). These smaller parts can then be offered to local dealers.

Probably the best thing for the OP to do is find some forumites who live in his area of Pennsylvania who would stop by to review and assess the 1000 pound collection and provide advice.

I simply say we needs to move on from this because of the responses take way to long (scared to think how long it will take to ship) I recommend eBay

Wow I can't believe I read this whole thread.

FWIW I am a collector. When I buy from dealers almost everything I get is 10 percent back of greysheet, unless its something really rare.
