Still on pace for 156/65, let's see if he can get there. Oil is surging, it's not only McD but the whole team is contributing, they are in a good mental state right now and at the right time. Now if the darn goalies step up.................

To me in this day and age 150 points is like 200 points back in Gretzky's day. But that is just my opinion.
This McDavid stuff has ALMOST got me interested enough to watch a hockey game for the first time in 30 years. It seems this kid is really something special. like once-in-a-generation special.

Hi goal last nite - he grabbed the puck in his end, skated and manuvered past all of the Kings, straight at the goalie looking him in the eye while playing with the puck until he found where he wanted to put it, again never looking at the puck but straight at the goalie, and whack! GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This guys speed and puck handling is like no other I have seen since Gretz.

He is this year.
If Kaprizov for the Wild is healthy for the playoffs, you need to see this kid play, nearly as good of a scorer as McDavid and better at every other aspect of the game.
I have been watching hockey since 1967 and this guy is SPECIAL!

thank you for that video. the closeups really helped me see what you were talking about. I find it amazing, like you said, that he is able to move with the puck while keeping his head up. Although, maybe i am overstating that as I am a hockey newb. is that a common skill? similar to dribbling a basketball while looking at the defense.

Thanks Joe. never heard of him. I will look him up!
His goal last nite was a workman's goal, kept at it, pushed and flicked it in when he got the chance. Reminded me of the type of goal Cam Neely or Craig Simpson used to get in front of the net.
He's got 5 games to do it, we will see. FWIW, his current season productivity predicts: 65/155.5 - these projections have not varied much over the past 15 games. Shows how consistent McDavid is game to game. Impressive. Elite. Best of his generation................
Love to see him get a hack trick in the next 5 games, but in general he is so unselfish with the puck, that it is probably unlikely, but great team hockey like McDavid plays makes the whole Oil better, unlike some of the puck hogs out there that score goals but not as many assists....................................

@JoeBanzai - what are you hearing about Kaprizov? He's been out a lot longer than I expected, but NHL teams are notorious for not letting anyone find out what the actual injury is.
I was having fun watching Kaprizov and Robertson battle it out (among themselves, not with McD) for supremacy but that battle is obviously over this year. The Stars could very well play the Wild in Round 1 and while the Stars chances are obviously greatly improved if Kaprizov is still out, it kind of feels like cheating to play them without their best player. (And it will sting a lot more if they lose anyway).
This is for you @thisistheshow - Jim Rice was actually a pretty good player.

Another important win for the Oilers, 4 games, 3 points for McDavid to get to the magical 150.
