My guess is what you paid for them when you won them (probably not many of these sold of the same coin in the same exact grades since then) but add say 30%-50% on top of that to make a profit. Just a wild guess maybe I am wrong.

It depends on when you purchased them if a long time ago maybe they are worth more that what you paid plus 30%-50% on top of that.

I am sure others here have more experience and can better answer your question.

If I may summarize this pablum, you have no clue. So why post?

Just trying to help like I said just a guess and as I said someone here with more experience will hopefully reach out.

What would be your answer? How does one evaluate such coins when most likely the last time such coins in the exact grades with the same eye appeal sold he was most likely the buyer aka the highest bidder at the time? How can you compare it with the value of today if that is the case?

How would someone know if they went up, down or stayed at the same value as the previous sales if that is the case?

There is no real price trend to base oneself on.

Thank you!, will see in any case next stop will be a local coin shop, that I have used in the past, so that way I can sell all at one time.

some insight on the 8 reales, market has been hot for awhile and started to cool off some on common dates with higher populations

    1834-Zs OM 8R Mexico XF40 PCGS - https://www.pcgs.com/cert/45203787

    • pop = 3 with 54 higher (pcgs + ngc)
    • AU53 sold in Jun 22 for $216 at HA
    • good range would be $100 to $150
    • common date, even though early in the series

      1888-Pi MR 8R Mexico MS63 PCGS PCGS - https://www.pcgs.com/cert/45203788

    • pop = 19 with 22 higher (pcgs + ngc)

    • no auction help, MS62 sold for $300+ and MS64 sold for $1,000 recently
    • good range would be $300 to $500
    • nice strike, depends on the luster

    1892-Ga JS 8R Mexico MS62 PCGS - https://www.pcgs.com/cert/44324006\

    • pop = 6 with 14 higher (pcgs + ngc)
    • MS 63 sold for $340 recently at Stacks
    • good range would be $250-$300
    • For some reason 8 reales in the 1890's don't sell as well in lower mint state grades, even with a low pop such as this one
    • Guess is concern with potential hoards not graded than could drive up the pop

    @dizzlecc Great information - Thanks!
I am going to edit and add the median value between the range prices.

Local dealer and small show don't go well with darkside.
Why don't you start taking offer here at buy& sell?
You can always sell to forum members if your local show can't offer you a better price.

A small show is not the place to try and sell coins like that unless it is a very specialized show with dealers that have that kind of material in their inventory.

    All glory is fleeting.

Try and sell them here like others have said. It is a small amount (maybe a few hundred around the globe maybe a bit more) of people who collect what we collect unless you live in Mexico and the show is there maybe then it is a good idea but in the USA not so sure.

@TurboSnail @291fifth @PillarDollarCollector - I have done or tried on the BST in the past, but normally I only place the coins for a few days, do not have time to leave the ad for a long period of time.

Found this: Chile: Charles III 2 Reales 1788 So-DA VF25 NGC Sold on Mar 27, 2022 for $456.00 at HA.

Since cannot find anything for this one:
    1786-So DA 2R Chile VF30 PCGS - https://www.pcgs.com/cert/46372053

Different date, grade and also mintage the 1788 are 66,000 versus 51,000

So maybe can be between 600-750.

    Some of the modern coins:

Mexico 1994 Silver 5 Coins Gem Proof Set original box and wallet.
Albania 1968 Silver 3 Coins Gem Proof Set with original wallet.
1994 Mo 5 Nuevos Pesos Gem Proof Lapida Tumba De Palenque.
2005 Mo 5 Pesos Gem Proof Reforma Monetaria.
2004 Mo Onza Silver Gem Proof.

Maybe about 70+ more Gem and BU and few AU but on these ones current prices can be much easy to find out.

And yes trying to focus on a small type of coins, that I want to keep, many of the ones I posted here, simple were impulse purchases if not all.

Just to comment about the small show I went this past weekend.

All the expositors/dealers/or better I will say just collectors, were offering modern Mexico coins, let say 90% and the rest some other world coins.

Also 95% raw coins, very few Graded (basically Anacs/NGC/PCGS) and with Details almost all.

There were 15 tables, first time I tried to sold coins like this.

The problem I saw, is that all were selling the same, very few with some nice stuff or unique.

One of the best coins for sale there were the new 20 Pesos bi-metallic and one in specific the related to 'Menonitas', these were sold like hot-cakes, I do not own or know anything about these coins, I know there are albums for these sets btw, but that;s all.

So, I sold some of my modern Mexico coins Gems and BU+, in this part not bad.

End up selling here the 25C Zacatecas coin, the rest of the graded ones posted, will try again on the BST or see if I can find a place to sell all (not consider to consign yet), still the coin shop is on the route, but will wait a bit.

After some more research for example on the CRO site the minimum for a 2R is around $700 for a low grade, and being the only graded.

Will keep looking and going to update the prices here too once avail.

Glad you were able to sell a few coins at the show and I am sure most will sell over time here on the BST.

If they are graded low pop slabbed coins (especially if single digit top pop ) they are worth much much more than just raw MS 60 book. Don’t let somebody BS u otherwise. Especially if single digit low pop. The problem is finding people who will pay the money. Don’t let somebody rip you paying MS60 money. Look at what people pay for entertainment venues, travel. Get your price don’t give them away.

I had won a Mexico 2nd republic PCGS 65 low pop silver piece pop 2/0 for $150 ish from a well known auc house. Talk about one heck of a pickup. These really really tough to find. I felt it was at least a $1200 coin (hey if somebody thinks that’s too much they can shove it - look at the USA sticker game) but just could not move it at that show after show. A well known world expert confirmed to me what I wanted was not unreasonable. The lame MS60 CV was $200. Eventually after having it quite awhile sold it to a dealer next to me at show for close to half I wanted but still did well with it. Perhaps he had a customer for it.

So Cali Area - Coins & Currency

To OP - I would think they could be worth 2-3x what you paid years ago or even considerably more. Do some research but I would not take less than double bubble for them (cost x2). I am a dealer with decades of experience in world material. Do not just give them away.

Thank you, I just want it to have an idea, many of these coins were purchased raw, some recently others years ago.

And btw, the small show that I went, it is of a mumismatic group (not dealers) simple collectors, many of them I know for years and they recently started to have this kind of presentations, to sell some of their coins, maybe duplicates, trade (the most part, something I have done) or to simple show their coins for visitors, and yes all focus to Mexico coins.

One thing is that many of those coins are raw and if they are slabbed they have them on anacs plastics, very few pcgs or ngc.
