New to Hobby 1961 Topps Dice Cards Mantle, Mays, Musial and Richardson
Gentlemen:
Thought you all would be interested in seeing new to the hobby 1961 ( though they are actually from 1963) Topps Dice Cards.Just back from PSA yesterday. See:

Included is only the third Mantle graded and this is the highest!
All four will be finding new homes soon. Not sure yet how to proceed, but needless to say it will be fun!

Likely will go down as the hobby find of the year. So incredibly rare. That Mantle card is going to inspire some feverish bidding. Beyond exciting and fires the imagination to think such treasures are out there and hidden in such remote ways.
Topps got a lot of mileage out of that Mays photo.

I had expected an article about these that would have answered the questions posed here to be published in Rich Mueller's Sports Collectors Daily on Friday.
Guess it will be out in a few days.
Short version of the story. These were found last year in a pencil case where it has been sitting in a drawer in a family home in Brooklyn for 60 or so years!
A son, now living in South Carolina returned to Brooklyn to clean out his family residence last year. Mom threw out other cards over the years and he said the only reason these survived was because they were in the pencil case. He says they were his brothers cards and most likely an older neighbor kid gave them to him.
They were listed online and he was inundated by offers/info etc.
After six months of talking/negotiating we recently closed the deal

Find new homes? I assume your going to a Auction House, which one and what time frame, so i can start counting my change.
The image also is used by Topps on his 1963 Willie Mays card as a black and white secondary image in the colored circle.
Yes it is in both the ‘60 and ‘63 the red background takes away from it.
Really like the full image with the actual background.
HaHa! Yeah, mom and dad will trash 6 figures worth of sports cards but it wouldn't cross their minds to pitch a pencil in the trash! Great story.

Just read the article online. A great story...you paid $100k for them? That's a big deal!
Great article. Are you keeping any of them or selling them all? Glad seller received a nice price - stuff like this is hard to predict how high it will go. Niche but cool and history is on your side. Fair to both of you to ensure authenticity instead of lowballing an amount you were willing to lose if not the real deal. 3 of the 4 are pretty much the best players you could get.
