Kind of look like the 1A2

Looks like the 1A2 to me too.
That's cool Lance. Not knowing the first thing about this VAM or that VAM, I googled Gumby's 1A2 response, and there it was, bigger than Dallas. It's official, I've learned my first coin lesson of 2023.
you guys nailed it and thanks to @messydesk for not posting the spoiler knowing you know this EASILY off the top of your head.
i'll post another one once i open back of the recesses of the archives. VERY deep within indeed.
nice example......
bob
Is it VAM 1

I am thinking the second one is the VAM-8. The mintmark appears to be tilted right to me. Also the slope of the date looks different to me too.
JMHO though.
@gumby1234 @sumdunce
there is a major diagnostic on the obv. it is actually similar to the first coin in the thread is your hint.
@LanceNewmanOCC I see it in your pic. I can't find it on VAM World. Might have to break out my book when I get home.

the BIG diagnostic doesn't appear to be visible from the image but there are other diagnostics to help with the attrib.
remember, it is kinda like the first coin.
I was thinking the 1A1 but your photos didn't match.

TECHNICALLY i didn't pick it. some guys i knew told me about it and i drove up JUST to check on that one item as it was well worth a trip. i graded au58 and after i sold it i offered a lil cash to them as a thank you gesture even though i think they didn't know just how valuable it was. i have tried to do more stuff like this over the years but people are so dam difficult sometimes. i LOVE splitting with friends/associates. i've even offered up splitting on discovery recognition and i think only had 2 takers and to be fair the people involved DID help in the process so it was legit.
even had a discovery 03-s morgan one time even though the s was added!!! so it was a 03-p discovery. this planet man, let me tell ya.
I've had the Hot Lips and the 78S long nock. Both cherries for $8 each from dealer junk bins. Sold both for a tidy profit.
Edited to add I found the 78S long nock 3 days after I got the VAM book. I had not even known about its existence before that.

My VAM book isn't good for this one. Its pretty old.

20A I believe.
USAF veteran 1984-2005
and i believe, you are correct:
most if not all of the ones i will post will be pretty obvious stuff and most likely best to use the site (unless you have all the supplements and/or updated vam books). other than discoveries, i rarely messed with non-premium vams, for obvious reasons. i would image them (in the past) for the site but that's it.
let me see if i can dig up just one more that may be similar to these. (nothing close enough}
I know the VAM has been revealed. I just want to ask if the 20A is the Unicorn?
One more question, are any VAMs worth a good premium?
I have at least 50 MS Morgan's 30 AU and twenty or so in various graded. I have 4 beautiful VAMs of the same grade. I'd just as soon keep them unless they bring a premium.
Last question, is the a resource to refer to that gives an idea of certain VAM premiums?
Thank you!
BTW Lance your pictures are outstanding how do you do it?
1. 20a is not the unicorn. it is tough though.
2. lots of vams worthy of a good premium.
3. sales results and experience.
4. ty. good equip and lots of experience. (you will see MUCH commentary and threads about how to achieve great numismotograpy)
I saw the clash under the "BUS" but did not seriously consider the 20A for some reason. Nice coin and congrats on the find and sale.
.
thanks
even though i was tipped off, the coin in-hand, was obvious. the E (only part of an E) is pretty strong for a 20a in-hand, though i don't see it in the images of mine and if the other clashing, especially the obv clashing, wasn't so visible, i probably would've given more hints.
i do know once we go down the clashing rabbit hole, there are a lot of mimics and yet still, plenty of evil ones!
