The one that started it all. Purchased in 1991 as a raw VF from an antiques dealer in Pacific Grove CA who side-armed coins on an occasional basis. Being a native North Carolinian, the mint’s brief history, its operations, and the allure of the coinage itself were all too tempting to keep the pursuit to just once. I’ve owned duplicates of this date, and currently have a 2nd P45/CAC, but this one holds a special place.
50 years for these coins. The Barber half I received on my paper route when I was a kid and the 2 Three cent pieces were found in my grandmother’s attic in a tin box.

I have had this Large Cent for at least 45 years. Was part of my first submission to PCGS when I joined last year.

Inherited from my uncle 20+ years ago. One of his older pieces, more than enough to pass the coin bug on to me.
