    Worcester, MA June 9, 1953
    The twister was sighted first shortly after 5 p.m. on June 9, 1953. Minutes later, Worcester's Great Brook housing project, the campus of Assumption College, Fayville's post office, and hundreds of private homes across Worcester County were in ruins. It was the most destructive tornado in New England history.
