There is almost 8% more gold in the buffalo... Weird.

They have EQUAL amounts of gold. Or am I all mixed up???
The AGE may be only .9167 % gold, but the total weight of the coin is more... so the end result is one troy ounce of gold. Plus... you get a little bit of silver along with it in the alloy.
Both coins have one ounce of gold. The AGE also has copper alloy added to harden the metal.
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.
The AGE total weight is 33.93 grams. The total weight of the Gold Buffalo is 31.11 grams. So the both have 1.0 troy ounces of gold.

So I guess given the two being offered at the same price, everyone should go with the AGE! I learned something today.
Both coins contain one troy ounce of pure gold.
One is alloyed with other metals to make it more durable, so it weighs more than an ounce. But the gold content contained is still one troy ounce of pure gold.
The other is not alloyed. It, too, contains exactly one troy ounce of pure gold.
Until you understand this, you should probably buy neither.

google is 100% correct, they are providing the actual weight of the coin. However as pointed out many times above both coins contain the same 1 oz. of pure gold with the total weight difference being more for the AGE because it contains additional alloys to make the coin harder.
Gold value for both coins will always be the same.

My guess is that not only do they both have the same amount of gold, but AGE's go all the way back to 1986 like ASE's so there's more history behind it. You know, for people like myself who like to collect all the years/mintmarks they can? Not that I could ever in a million years afford to collect AGEs or other gold coins mind you...I'll have to settle for silver and copper I suppose.

Have you priced the one year only 2008 W gold buffalo 4-coin sets in both MS & PR? bought, graded and soon sold a number of the unc. sets @$1902 right after they came out. Nice profit but no where near today's prices.
The Great Gold Planchet US Mint Shortage of 2008 resulted in their being discontinued. They really should bring them back.
