When I saw this get added to inventory at Northeast Numismatics the other day I couldn't resist. I've been looking to add a Saint to my circulated S mint double eagle collection. I couldn't think of a more perfect first Saint for this collection and for me in general as a collector. The stories this golden lady could tell...

I'm ashamed to say I've never actually seen old proof Liberty gold in hand. Gonna have to change that at the ANA in Phoenix this March. Won't be buying but I'll sure be looking.

Just out of sheer curiosity, is there any US coinage of 1 gram gold like the Chinese Panda or the Canadian Maple leaf?
Mighty impressed with the strike quality for a coin so tiny.I was extremely surprised after getting one of those 1/8th sovereign Britain pre-decimal private offering from Huttons, UK made in 1 gram of 22 karat gold which is only 11.0 mm in diameter.

Had read that the $1 was the smallest piece of gold coinage in size ever created by the U.S. Mint at 1.672 g and 12.7 mm for Type 1 with 14.3 mm Types 2 and 3.
Was surprised as to why the U. S. Mint never made any gold coins in 1 gram like Canada and China (or the tiny 11.6 mm half gram AUD $2 Roo from Perth mint).
My query and following pics were in no way intentional to derail the thread topic.
