PCGS now considers a Fugio Cent an official US coin right?

I'm trying to use my 8 coin voucher, but they don't seem to accept Fugio cents as a part of a standard US coin. Didn't PCGS recently decide that the Fugio is officially a US coin. Wondering why they don't accept it as a standard US issue, if that's the case. Thoughts?

You need to submit the coin as a special issue…
This is the only way….
Fugio cents were always, I believe, "US coins". They recently determined that they were classifiable as "Federal coins". There was considerable debate as to whether or not this classification was justifiable, with the debate seeming to centre on whether "the federal government" was a term that could rightfully apply to the 1776-1789 pre-Constitution government of the United States.
I don't think they intended this reclassification to impact their bottom line, in terms of reassigning Fugios to a lower price bracket for coin submissions. It's more a semantics thing.

Apparently I have been awarded the DPOTD twice.
Again, to answer your question clearly, the only way PCGS will grade it is a special issue…
The Fugio cent is recognized by the hobby as the first US coin, but our host will only grade it as a “Special Issue “
Historically, they were the first Federal Contract Coins issued by the USA... a very significant piece of numismatic history IMHO...

Thanks for the responses. I remember when a PCGS article came out that was talking about the decision to reclassify the Fugio...I thought to myself "SWEET! now I can get those two Fugio Cents certified with my next CC renewal." Nope...looks like I'll need to send them in separately. Now I don't have enough coins to send it! I guess I'll need to buy a couple more...

The more qualities observed in a coin, the more desirable that coin becomes!
