WAY back in the 60s, I went to a stamp show in Cleveland. One of the display frames stuck with me all these years. It was the 1902 regulars set. There was a single, block, and cover for each denomination, but more, there was an autograph of the person on the stamp. This even included Martha Washington!! Maybe this wasn't the most expensive grouping possible but it really seemed cool to an 18 year old.

Stamp exhibiting was very important to many collectors in the past. I'm not sure if it is still pursued as much as before. My area (Detroit) had an APS accredited show with top quality exhibits for many decades. This year the exhibits were dropped from the show due to the aging of the club members and their inability to set up the heavy exhibit frames themselves. I wonder how many other cities are seeing the same thing happen.
