Are PCGS and NGC fair?

I often times see coin dealers on Facebook that are mutual friends with pcgs and ngc graders. I have seen many examples of people cracking coins out of their case and sending it to be graded for a better grade.

I have cracked coins out of details holders and gotten straight grades. I don't know any graders.

"Do you think pcgs and ngc are rigged in general?"

    No.

For example, I know someone that cracked a 1906s us-Philippines peso au details out of its holder and resubmitted it to pcgs and got a ms63 grade. That’s about a $100,000 gain in value. Do you think pcgs and ngc are rigged in general? I think many coin dealers are buying these graders lobster in exchange for better grades. Discuss below 👇

Edit: I saw a photo online of a coin grader holding hands with a coin dealer. Should this be allowed?

So you think if a grading company engages in “rigged” grading, they’d respond to you and answer truthfully? And if you believe that they grant grading favors, but deny it, would you believe them?

Your original question was most assuredly, not a smart one to ask.

In my experience PCGS is fair, but I have no experience with NGC. However I have not seen anything that would cause me to think that NGC is biased.

I have not agreed with their opinion occasionally but I figure they have more experience than me. And since they consist of humans, they do make mistakes,

After Panda4456 dropped all those truth bombs I bet both PCGS and NGC have already graded samples of the Roswell crash and they are just sitting on and not updating the pop reports! I bet Giorgio Tsoukalos is an undercover UFO metal grader. Maybe a "First Crash" label?

I think the grading services are pretty accurate, are there overgraded and undergrade coins, yes, but a majority are right on. When ever I get back a coin that I missed on, I usually look at it again, and most of the time I see what they most likely saw, that I missed. But over the years, I am pretty much on target with thier assessments.

Any entity that handles millions and millions of coins to grade and encapsulate will have errors. Heck the U.S. Mint makes many errors and no one gets mad at them(well not for the errors, anyway). Just think of the mechanical errors that occur, much less a bad day or being overloaded and pressured, it happens. Just endure it and if you disagree, then resubmit and if it didn't happen to you, shutup.

The grading companies have to much at stake financially to not be straight forward and honest with the grades.

It is my understanding the graders have no idea who's coins they are grading, there is no reason they need to know.

I do believe that they can be a little harsh on grading but nothing I disagree with. You have to understand that PCGS and NGC can't give everything a superb grade because it would flood the market and would inflate and deflate prices. I think they are pretty fair on grading. I dont believe they are unfair or its rigged, baloney.

Grading is a skill that takes experience and knowledge that takes time to acquire. These two companies employ the cream of the crop graders which makes me trust PCGS and NGC graders with my submissions.

    Are PCGS and NGC fair?<

They are in the business to make money.....no? Satisfy the submitter makes for more future submissions. Which comes into question; what percentage of collectors and dealers really care or know the accurate grade of a coin? Most would run to the bank with overgraded coins. They would not send the coin back with some ideology the coin is overgraded, thus seeking a lower grade. That costs money! It's the beast of greed that fuels markets.....and blind acceptance by many who simple want money or other meaningless accolades, anyone's money.

A true coin collector simply wants the best coin he can afford. And it's really amazing about those who can afford anything but yet collect garbage!
