PCGS submissions: how long have you been waiting?

I sent in one coin for grading. It was received March 10th. It’s still in the grading process. How long have you all been waiting? I expect to get my coin back in June hopefully.

"Collectors Club Voucher" submission of 4 US coins in "Grading" since January 12, 2022. Payment by check that has been cashed since January 13, 2022. Might be time to request a refund and return of the submission.

Just received my December 15th regular speed order Friday.

Q: When does a collector become a numismatist?

A: The year they spend more on their library than their coin collection.

A numismatist is judged more on the content of their library than the content of their cabinet.

I sent in a Econ submission back on 12/22/2021 just received it after calling for two weeks every day they finally expedited it and rec it Friday. The coins didn’t even look like the coins I sent in. I’m taking pic of every submission from now on.

What do you mean, you received different coins than you submitted?

3 months and has been in encapsulation for 15 business days last Friday. It may go back to Grading and then back to Encapsulation, as I have heard from others. I spoke with someone named Phil at PCGS and was told Encapsulation was averaging 10 to 15 business days. I guess I'll find out this week.

One modern value order of ten received on January 28th. Still grading. Two crossovers received January 28th still grading. So suspect my order should ship by july.

I’m saying it took so long they looked a lot better when I sent them in from what I can remember when I sent them in. But I wish I took pic before I sent that submission so I know how they looked 100% when I 1st sent them in. I sent in coins in MS and I rec AU and bright white cleaned coins in VF I did not send that kind of stuff in and they where all my big dollar coins that came back like that I did not send those coins in. So from now on I’m taking pic of every coin and heads will roll if it’s not right.

I’m saying something happened. But for this order there was no before pic but I know what I had in my dansco, I can tell Unc from VF and cleaned. From 1916 to 1921 all mint marks half. Anyway no one can change it now, I’m just venting .

    That was early January.

Occasionally dream of that email saying grades are available.

No point in calling, it is what it is.
And they are busy enough, no point in making them busier with a BS call.

I actually had a dream one night that the PCGS email of "your grades are available" came through. :D
I checked in the morning and no luck. :(

I've had a few coins (modern US mint proofs) that came back with "surprises", but it could have been that once they (PCGS) cracked the airtites they were in and got 1st exposure to O2, they could have had some reaction I would not have noticed when I submitted.

Just to put things in perspective, I have an order with PSA (the card division of Collector's) that I sent back in March and it's still sitting in grading... that's March 2021 :D:( :'(

Just got mine back from Jan 11, that's the last one for me, other than a customers economy that I could care less when it comes back, it usually takes him weeks to come by and get it when it comes in anyway.

I have an Express order in since March 11….still in grading. Called last week to find out real status and was told it was in attributes. I had two other Express orders submitted at same time and those coins have been already returned to me, go figure!

My question is whether the two top grading services will ever return to pre-pandemic turn-arounds and what would be required for that to happen? Plus NGC added an additional yearly fee for dealers to get discounted grading.

This sort of turnaround time has to be hurting dealers.

I think long waiting time indicate the market is very hot. People send in all the coins to grade and sell. Grading company did a great job to push the market price because more and more people realize in order to sell for good price the coin need to be graded. New buyers want to buy coins in holder.

Both major services have long waits, the second tier imo, a month or so. I would only do a submission with the top tier for really valuable coins over $500-$1000 where the upside of the grade is vital.

Funny I had express cross over grading received 3/23, still stuck in grading. How does that make sense, for $65?

I think they speed up now. Last time I submitted a walkthrough it took more than two tweaks to get a grade. Now I got a grade today for 4/7 received.
