Who Can Tell Me About the late George "Gus" R. Trostel - EAC Collector?

CatbertCatbert Posts: 7,439 ✭✭✭✭✭

While Google provides info about his life (he died early this year at 74), there is very little available about his passion for early copper. I see references to him being the former owner of a particular coin when seeing old auction half and large cent listings.

Do we have an EAC member here who can tell me more about him as a hobbyist?

I am interested since I have one of his coins.

Thanks!

Do we have any EAC collectors here?

I’ve found this part of the hobby to be fascinating, but never had time to get up to speed on it.

I just saw this posting and didn't realize George had passed away. I knew him from coin shows, both EAC and larger shows like Baltimore and ANA (and FUN?). I sold some half cents for him that he consigned to me and sold him a few Colonial coins and misc.

I once collected half cents by die marriage (1980s) as did he and we were both long time members of EAC.

He was a very nice man and I believe a Numismatist.
