Newbie German Stamp Question

I have a friend whose 80 something father passed away who inherited a bunch (hundreds) of German stamps from the 1920's through 1940's from his father (friends grandfather). Father and Grandfather were born and lived in Germany. Anyway, many have not been postmarked ie unused and have Hitler, swastika, golden eagles, and general German stuff from that era. My question is it legal to have possession of this stuff and is it worth anything?

  • It’s legal. You can go to the local library and borrow Scott stamp catalog and see the value. Probably will sell for much lower value than catalog says it’s worth though.

    Yes, totally legal.

Any stamps that are used on envelopes should be left that way as they may have more value on the postmarked envelope.
