    I'm surprised that no one has said anything yet. It's obviously not a blatant fake, so I'm leaning towards real.

    Do you have other images you can provide? My initial impression is that I wonder about it, but wouldn’t condemn it, based on what I see.

    Edited to add: The more I look at closeups provided by ifthevamzarockin, the less I like it.

    looks fake to me, but could be photography - you feel it is J-1618 ?

    If that's a fake, it's a damned good one. Does the auction company guarantee the authenticity or is it being sold as "all sales are final"?

    Looks pretty bogus to me. Look at "pluribus". Missing serifs everywhere. Hair detail too flat. What concerns me is the dentils actually look semi ok. They're getting better.

    @Estatecollectors1 Welcome to the forum! :)

    You can simply cancel the transaction by clicking cancel/refund customer, you don't need to wait for their approval.
    If the buyer leaves less than favorable feedback ebay will remove it. ;)
    There is no need to send it to PCGS if you compare the details of your coin to images from coinfacts.

    We actually can not cancel like that without receiving a strike againt our account. Ebay informed us we would have to reach out the customer and request to cancell under means of "Wrong customer address" so neither party receives a strike. They did confirm they could remove any negative feedback but that was the process they toll me last night was the way to go after an hour on the phone and 2 other associates stepping in. Seems silly i know but i truly dont want to receive a strike against our account if thats the case. We are honest sellers. However i have a coin guy with a pcgs subsription that sends things in all the time that said he could send it for me for olny $30 so for the peace of mind i think ill dig myself s little deeper and hope for the best.

    I have cancelled a sale using the problem with address without reaching out to the buyer. This is the way to do it so no one gets a strike against their account.

    @Estatecollectors1

    I would be more worried about the fact that I sold a counterfeit coin and that is illegal.
    I would be more worried about law enforcement than a strike from ebay. ;)

    @Estatecollectors1

    There are enough long term ebay sellers here that there is a very good chance you will get better help & answers here than you will get from an ebay CSR. ;)

    Stick around, there is a lot of good information on the site and you can get opinions on coins you are not familiar with before you post them. ;)

    I don't know, @ifthevamzarockin, I don't think I would condemn this one yet. Comparing the the blatant fake you linked on ecrater the one in question is of substantially higher quality.
    For example, on the terrible fake the periods are all perfect circles, but on the genuine coinfacts example they are not, and the shapes are matched by the coin auctioned, this seems like something a counterfeiter would not bother to reproduce. Other things seem to line up as well, and that looks like real circulation wear to me.

    https://images.pcgs.com/CoinFacts/22054282_1741680_2200.jpg

    This reminds me of the circulated Hawaiian from a flea market that someone posted some time back, everyone wrote it off as counterfeit. It ended up in an AU details holder if I recall correctly.
    Yes the denticles on this coin look a little off, but the photos are far from great, they do line up properly with devices. The weak lower cross bar of the B in Pluribus also matches with genuine examples, and not the terrible ecrater fake.
    At the very least I think we need some better pictures to be more sure.
    If I was the buyer in this case I would be angry if not given an opportunity to authenticate it myself. If it is a fake it's a damn good one.

    The beads on the headband should be bolder & rounder.
    The reverse beads also look like they lost some detail in the copy process.

    Estatecollectors1, maybe if you offered the coin to them at their price in 2-4 months when you get the coin back from PCGS it would help them agree to cancel auction.

    Wouldn't a trip down to the coin shop be in order. My shop has one of those testers that tells the metal content by metal. AU xx%, AG xx%, etc. Maybe not all shops have one but certainly some do, eh? It's a kind of bar graph with vertical spikes.

    Looks fake to me with obverse lettering esp the I. However have to admit if that was just a run of the mill Morgan dollar in a pile I may not be at all suspicious of it. Makes me nervous. Seems like the transfer process is getting better and how long before circ coins will he really hard to tell real vs fake

    I might change my mind after seeing the coin in hand, but I see absolutely nothing remotely suspicious about the coin in the pics.

    However, why would anybody ever auction or buy an authentic coin like this raw?

    If its fake its damn good.

    Appreciate the close ups but they are too fuzzy to really establish copy. Obverse looks chemically altered.

    Interesting. Given the concern it was a good call from the seller to offer to cancel. Turns out to be a bummer for the original buyer. I hope the original bidder/buyer was at least given the opportunity to complete the purchase with the known risk.
