The post office does not offer two day priority service. Direct from the USPS website:
"In most cases, the expected delivery date printed on your receipt or provided at checkout will reflect a delivery time of 1, 2, or 3 business days and is based on origin, destination, and drop-off time."
Label heading is priority 2day, bought from usps site. Mute point since it's taking 4 days.
Well, again, Monday to Thursday is 3 days. Furthermore, expected delivery isn't always accurate and sometimes it gets there faster than estimated. Priority can also be a day late, but rarely longer in my experience (not counting the late 2020 nightmare).

3 days coast-to-coast for $8 for a package that could weigh 70 pounds. And the customer complains.
I totally agree with your statement above, jmlanzaf. When I worked in Express Mail 18 years ago we had our half dozen trouble spots nationwide. Same places, over and over. I also agree with the second part of it. I know I tried my best to get things where they were supposed to go and in a timely manner.

Now to prove that good/ excellent service is possible IF the system is totally supported and working.(all Union Employees)
A friend shipped an express parcel from Hamburg/ Germany via DHL-German post, to a small town outside Munich on a Friday afternoon at 14:00. It was delivered the next day, a Saturday, at 11:10. approx distance= 700-800 miles as the crow flies.

This is off point. USPS express has a guarantee and will deliver 3000 miles across country in less than 24 hours. 1st class and priority do not have delivery guarantees. Comparing DHL express to USPS 1st class is like comparing apples to porcupines.
I used DHL twice this year. The one package never turned up after they sent it 9000 miles in the wrong direction. The other one got there in 4 weeks. Of course, that also wasn't express.

About 11 or 12 years ago, I bought a dozen books of forever stamps. I think the price was .41/stamp or close to it. Used one yesterday and chuckled at the wonder of my genius. Getting rich .14c at a time.
I think this is already occurring, I mail between 4-10 packages a day. Always access tracking daily. It used to be, most if not all would be scanned at drop off, then by the evening or next am, be thru the distribution center here regionally, over the past week or so, I have seen many times when i drop them off, they sit an extra day or two at drop off location, then finally thru distribution on third day. Referring to First class packages, have not seen a difference on many of the priority yet.

I’m to blame for their financial problems.
I might have you beat in the blame game.
I buy old United Nations stamps at 20% of face, put them on letters, put all the letters into a larger envelope which I send to the UN in NYC. They postmark them and then turn them over to the USPS for delivery.

Dude, put those in a vault. You're throwing away future profits by using them now!

About ten years ago I had a First Class large envelope sent 2,200 miles away take one day. I was shocked! I think it was sent on a Thursday and arrived the next day, Friday. Just regular stamps. The delivery speed at that time was normally 4-5 for similar first class mail.
No one mentioned that the articles states that “first-class letters, flat envelopes, and periodicals” are affected, but says nothing about first-class parcels/packages.
The post office for its size fairly efficient and reliable. The change in business model to a for profit business has killed off a lot of the service aspect of the post office. Congress making unrealistic demands on funding future retirees pensions and then stealing the money the post office did have in reserve. I do agree they need to raise their rates but the post office has to go thru a postal regulatory committee to raise rates . Fedex and ups just raise their rates at will. Post office is not perfect but i believe its the best in the world.
I just received an email from a customer that is going to have me file a complaint. I am very upset! He found his registered package sitting on his porch this morning! Signature confirmation....maybe, but a registered package?
During the pandemic, It did take about 5 months for me to get an item from China, I was not concerned at all. By the time it got here it was too late to leave feedback thou.
Inability of buyer to leave feedback is a plus for a slow shipper. The Covid pandemic sure turned into a good excuse for slow shipment for some ebay sellers.

Sorry to hear that. I wish there was 2more options for forum comments. Thanks and sorry (to hear that)🙏
As an ebay buyer who always makes prompt payment, I find it extremely annoying to have to wait and wait and wait some more for an item I've paid for. When I was seller, prompt shipment on prompt payment ALWAYS happened. Good thing I'm not ebay seller anymore. I wouldn't even begin to abide slug service from USPS.

@amwldcoin Signature confirmation shouldn't be left on a porch either. It is supposed to be signed for. I had sent 7 MS67 coins to somebody and the guy thought he didn't get the package when it said delivered to person in tracking. He found it out on his porch. What if it had been stolen?

No excuse for mailman. He is to either get the signature or return package to post office. It was probably scanned delivered and if package was stolen , customer receiving the package would have no recourse in getting his money back. Pure laziness or incompetence.

Priority has never been guaranteed. Use express mail if you want a guarantee. If it doesn't make it on time you get a refund.

As long as my packages don't go to Jamaica, New York. I have had some serious delays when they get there.
Memphis has been bad this year also. But I haven't lost any packages. USPS does most things right. They are sadly under-appreciated

There's something wrong with union employees?
Bought an eBay item for $8.44. Was shipped from the West Coast on the 19th and arrived on the East Coast today.

The Priority Mail package I sent on August 3rd finally arrived August 17th - 14 days instead of the 3 it was scheduled to take.
I thought the slowdown was already in effect...
It's kinda sad when you have to spend $8 for PM now to get the kind of service you used to get for 15c first class.
RIP Mom- 1932-2012
I'm glad it's slowing down. My mail has been too fast lately.

whatever happined to shipping something on Saturday and the buyer receives it on monday?
For less than a dollar.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
That still happens. Just no guarantee which Monday.
yeah, the good old days, when the post office still made money
I got a PM package take one day recently. It was only one state over, though.
the post office lady told me they are trying to use ground more now instead of airplanes
Seems like a good idea 🤠. Certainly an excess of over the road drivers 🤠. I guess those gigantic sign on bonuses with the trucking companies are for ?

Nothing is as expensive as free money.
And the price of a 1st class stamp went to .58 cents today.
One upside to stamp market being down is I am buying sheets of stamps cheap. I mean I might pay 40 cents for 55 now 58 cents worth of postage 🤠

The union negotiates the contract but each employee can chose to join or not.
Use FedEx , UnitedParcel...USPS as last resort...1st class mail? I use email ..pay & get bills on line
