NGC certified this token and Heritage just sold it. Really? No one caught the errors?

I first met Abe at the '73 ANA when I was a mail-order customer. Mike Kliman, his son-in-law, was one of my first mentors, and I helped him sell off some bits of Abe's estate.

    Jeez
    :'(

You expected ATS to know how to spell Trilonosoff?

That auction result is right on -- a $10 token in a $20 holder.

I guess they see so many lots, brains are just turned off while they "process" them all.

I never personally knew Abe, but who doesn't know OF him?

Is it worth more because it’s an error holder?

That's how they squeezed the extra $1 out of it.

I am raising my hand 🖐. The word token came up, so I was intrigued. It if there was an immediate quiz on who Abe was or how to spell his name, unless it was multiple choice, I would flunk. If it was multiple choice, I might have had a chance.

That said, a tpg should get it right, but I would venture to guess that there are many here who would not know who he was without google.

Abe Kosoff is a very fascinating man. He helped put together the Harry "Parkyakarkus" Einstein collection and was involved in making the United Nations Monetary Union So-Called Dollar in silver, bronze and gold.

I own the dies for this token. I also had a chance to buy his ANA 25 year membership medal but it sold before I could buy it.

PCGS has published QDB's book on Abe Kosoff which has a nice mention of these tokens.
