Handful of Barber Halves from 1906-1908

Eldorado9Eldorado9 Posts: 2,493 ✭✭✭✭✭

(A few re-posts of pics here) I made a little date run out of my 1906, 1907, and 1908 coins. Interesting to see differences across MS and Proofs....The 1908 proof was notable for generally poor production for reasons unknown. I'd be interested to see anybody's 1906-1908 Barber pics if you have some to post.

The Great San Francisco Quake of April 1906 must have cast a long shadow over 1907 and 1908, as the city sought to rebuild itself from the ashes.

1907-d MS-67+ CAC

1908 MS-67 CAC

1908-s MS-67 OGH/CAC

    My favorite is the 1907-D

Nice grouping of Barber halves. Love the ‘07-S, cool pull away toning.

Can’t stop looking at these halves. My Lord, the 1906 PR66 is well beyond mesmerizing. No words exist to really describe it.

Thank you DAVE! It's fun to share these coins.....That 1906 proof is a great coin, and has some beautiful color. The mirrors and the flash when it hits the light is blinding! You need one of those filters they use for looking at a solar eclipse!

There all amazing, but one or two stick out for me more than others.

The 1907-S is, in my opinion, the toughest coin to find that no one appreciates (or, at least, no one who hasn't attempted to find them appreciates). It is a beast to find even in the higher circulated grades. Also, that 1908 has what appears to be amazing, thick and crusty frost. It's terrific!

Always astute observations Tom....Both favorites of mine. Best to you.
