amazon?
too many high priced BIN? it's a difficult site to wade through for widget coins.
Ebay is aiding and abetting the Chinese sellers who now defraud so many US buyers, And bad news travels fast
Managed payments ran off some good sellers.
Imagine how much worse it would have been had they raised fees instead of lowering them.
I like Managed Payments but some didn't.
I know. Some of them posted as much here.
You could hand out free $100 bills and there would still be people who complain.
Loss of ebay bucks made me cut down and compare shopping more at other entities.

I quit buying on ebay because of the illegal collection of sales tax.
I have not made a purchase in over 3 months.
i buy a fraction now of what i used to get. it sucks to be them
Apparently they are still in business 😂

That spike is when they stopped ebucks which I knew was never sustainable.
I am still compounding returns from ebucks, from over the years, such a boost for a small business.
They reported a 2% decline in active COIN buyers, or active buyers?
active buyers
I agree! Between loss of ebay bucks and charging taxes I am turned off. There are plenty of other places to shop.

I did not sign up for Managed Payments and am reluctant to give eBay more control over my sales. I'm still selling- previously listed auctions that roll over. Payments by PayPal only.
I've had two scammers hit me in the last year. On the first one, the guy claimed he didn't order the item. Two months after he left feedback, lol. CC charge back. PayPal covered it. No cost to me. On the second one, I was in the middle of the $500 transaction and my PayPal rep called me and said don't ship.
I have no faith that Managed Payments would have been at that level of service.
Where else should I be shopping online for fairly priced US coins?
thanks,
am
I've been selling on Ebay since 1999 without any negative feedback. Here's the state of my recent Managed Payment as of today, August 12th for an item confirmed delivered on July 26th:
I like Great Collections! I am also starting to look at Stacks Bowers.

Interesting. I've been selling on eBay since 1998 with 4 negative feedbacks and eBay isn't holding up any of my payments.
It seems pretty random. I had a larger payment come through and a couple smaller ones recently. What bothers me is the lack of any updates at all on a payment now 10 days overdue. They just let the original estimate sit there. Of course they've already taken their cut.
I've had payments from $4 to $1400 sent to me, with none held up. If I was concerned, I'd ask them what's going on.
And I will. I just wanted to point out it's not as seamless as some people are saying.
It's probably just sales tax, which was part of the reason for Wayfair. People bought things for the same price as local because it was tax free. Now, it's the same price in both places so there is less (2%???) Incentive to do that.

Then for all we know active coin buyers went up.

I just read the report. This is a meaningless change. The comparison is June over June. Ebay was seeing double digit growth through the pandemic last year and it is now simply resetting to normal levels.

Or there are less of them but total spending for coins went up.

I don't think it is quite like abandoning a boat and I do not feel any certain group has received the lost buyers and sellers on ebay. I think ebay is merely facing the reaction by the public who is losing trust by the actions of ebay against sellers, causing it ever more expensive to sell on ebay. Before all the ebay lovers chip in, I like ebay and have bought and sold there for 17 years and also have no negative feedbacks, which isn't probably as meaningful as previous years. But I have had more returns against sellers I have bought from in the last year than in the previous years combined. I have had only 2 return requests with my sales.
As far as the Managed Selling techniques they employ are just something new to get used to. A lot more info is available whether needed or not. Obviously, the larger sellers like the managed system, I found it a pain. As to payments by ebay to me, I have received my money from ebay on the 2nd day after the sale since the first one, which was a week. Again, I like ebay, but do feel they are overlooking the crap that is now being offered with photos that do not match the item upon receiving and the obvious to most counterfeit items flooding the auction place. I believe this will be a thorn in their side a little quicker than they think. Then, that is just my opinion.
As to the question asked earlier about where else does one sell their items, as of this date, Nowhere that compares.

Would wager It’s impact of the summer doldrums. Sales have always been slower for me during summer months with exception of 2020 (Covid knocking out shows).
The collection of state sales tax is what it is. Buyers going to shows have to pay travel cost, entry fees, etc. if items in their state taxable even if the dealer does not specifically charge sales tax it may be factored into the price as a transaction fee and simply input via the markup equation. So there really is no escaping it.
The one thing it is not related to is summer doldrums. It is June over June comparison.

MY 2CTS
I wasn't listing coins a year ago (PO = no go). There were no coin shows. I wasn't prepared to enter a shop. Everything was delivered. If I saw an attractive coin on E-Bay I would make the purchase.
Was I unique?
Today, I would enter a coin shop. In addition, the coins shows have opened up so I imagine others can attend. IN my world, there was no alternative to E-Bay 1 year ago which is no longer true.
I'm surprised that the drop off isn't greater than 2%.
I agree. If you read the article, they were up 5+% quarter over quarter last year.
Especially June over June. The March to June quarter last year is when everything was shut down.
Amazon has seen the same pull back. Just goes to show you how easy it is to spin a fact.

Over the last year there’s been plenty of time to compare eBay to shops and shows. One thing that has become apparent is eBay is a bargain for the seller as costs are less. Buyers benefit from large selection. As always buyer beware. I can get ripped off at a show and it’s bought and done. Seller gone home.
🎶 shout shout, let it all out 🎶
eBay has far more built in protections than most dealers or shows.

I didn't spin anything. It is what is reported. What did astonish me was the drop is the first in Ebay's history, I believe. During the Pandemic their numbers rose. No spin.

I sell on eBay, I like the change to Managed payments as funds go into my bank directly every week. Their support responses quickly. Only had a few issues with flaky buyers, (no pay) I have bought of few coins, usually look for deals...
