US Mint-UNABLE TO FILL ORDER! AGE/ASE What’s going on? **Answer on first comment**

I received 3 emails this morning from the US MINT. One after the other.
Thank you for your recent order. Unfortunately, we are not able to fulfill it at this time. Please call our Customer Service Center at your earliest convenience at 1-800-872-6468.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. If we do not hear from you within 48 hours, we will automatically cancel your order. This is to protect you against any fraudulent activity on your account.

The 3 orders:
1- ASE T2 proof eagle (W) placed 7/23
1 -ASE T2 proof eagle (W) placed 7/28
1- 4 coin AGE proof set placed 7/29

All of them placed with my usual credit card and none violated any HHL. ALL of these orders were backordered but now show processing.

I called the mint. I got the usual hold music and pressed one when able to have an agent call back. An agent called me back. She took my information and placed me on hold. Seven minutes later she hung up on me.

I have another call in to the mint and I’m waiting for another call back. Is this a glitch? What’s going on??

Anyone else?

**receievd call back (again). The agent went straight to my first “hold” order as if he knew why I called. He said he will reprocess the order. He did this with all three of my orders that were on “hold”. He said they came available and went on hold during processing- no explanation as to why. He said it will now take one to two days to go through normal processing again. I asked if this was because of my credit card. He said no. But it wasn’t because the item wasn’t available. It was because it became available and they needed to rerun the card. That’s what I was told.
I guess I’m good? We shall see what happens next.

Got the same thing. Waiting for call back from the mint. I figured unable to fill was because hold on CC expired. If you’re right why did my orders go to processing ?

It means they oversold, usually. You're probably SOL.

If the hold expired, then ALL of my orders placed since May will have this issue since they all got pinged on my cc and subsequently went backordered. This is a real problem!

Hopefully the mint will resolve the issue with an apology email (holding my breath).

I already expected orders from May back ordered until October will need CC info re entered. I thought this is how they’ll do it. These were the first to become available. I could be way off base. It’s just the move to Processing is throwing me off.

Unable to fill order could just mean payment info. Not availability of items.

Snafu I am just guessing but this cluster buster is coming home to roost. Very lucky to have received what I have but all this crap is catching up. How stupid is this ordering months out. Selling promises to people who are reselling promises some kinda pyramid scam. CC’s failing at banks the mint eBay and the rest. Why would anyone think that there might be any problems 😂

I woke up this morning and decided to ignore my better judgment and go to the ANA. Virus big concern, someone reported prices high with a capital H ( like I didn’t know that already) now waiting to clear this up. Something is trying to tell me something. I was at least looking forward to a Jean and Jude dog

I also got the email about ASE ordered on 7/28.
I don't think the problem is from my side.

I stopped chasing Mint issues about a year ago because of this bs. So far, I'm not feeling any withdrawal symptoms. :)

I got the same email. Keep trying to call the mint and after I press 0 to talk to somebody, I get a busy signal.

I placed a "back order" for a coin earlier this year. CC was 'pinged' when I ordered, then, as expected, the hold dropped-off after a few days. A couple of weeks later, the product returned to stock. The Mint then charged my cc, and shipped the item without any action on my part.

My Point - the Mint has successfully processed "back orders" in the recent past, even after the cc hold had expired.

Good luck to all that have been impacted by these e-mails. I sincerely hope that you are able to successfully resolve the issue. :)

How about let's guess the reason behind it?
I would say HHL 3 is the problem.

I called the Mint, spent 90 minutes on hold. They removed the hold on the order and it is back to processing.

I asked them what triggers the hold. This has happened in the past and seems to be related to items that have a delay in shipping but not actually on backorder. She couldn't say for sure.

It's a nuisance, but just call the Mint, stay on hold for 2 hours and they will clear the hold.

I called almost hour and a half ago opted for call back maybe they didn’t forget about me.

I don't know. Someone earlier this week said they never got a call back after several days. I put the phone on speaker and just wait. Over 90 minutes. Interestingly, I had the same 90 minute wait last week on another matter. Maybe they just routinely put me on 90 minute wait.

  • jmlanzafjmlanzaf Posts: 36,776 ✭✭✭✭✭

It's also interesting that if you put in the order number into the phone system, it no longer recognizes the order number until you clear the "hold".

  • GoldminersGoldminers Posts: 4,347 ✭✭✭✭✭

Why can't they just rerun the credit cards without wasting 2 hours of ours and their time?

  • jmlanzafjmlanzaf Posts: 36,776 ✭✭✭✭✭

I called again. Been on hold for 30 minutes. I'm actually leaving the speaker phone on and going to a meeting. When I get back, it will have been 90 minutes and they should be ready to answer.

Man that on-hold music is bumpin'.

All I get is busy signals when I select option 2 or 4. This issue must have inundated their CSR's this morning.

    Pretty frustrating.

I got the email this morning. I continue to get hang ups with option 0

I'm back. Still on hold at 90+ minutes. Didn't miss anything while I was out of the office. Lol

They wouldn’t have this issue if they didn’t make it our issue. So now their phone lines are backed up with tons of customers having the exact same issue! If they don’t fix the issue, imagine the glut of calls when thousands of backordered coins come up in October/November!!

You’ve gotta love the mint’s system upgrade! (100% Intentional sarcasm)

Tried to call, both 2 and 0 did not work.
    Which one should I press?

I don't think anything is going to work until the call volume diminishes. Not sure how many thousands of us received this email but the Mint seems intent on self immolation with these kinds of actions.

They should use computer program to fix this problem instead of customer service.
Unfortunately, their IT dept is TOO weak.

I'm at 140 minutes on my second call of the day after 95 minutes on the first call.

I'm expecting them to hang up on me at any time.

+90 min and still bumpin'. What a groove, I hope it never ends. If a mint rep answers, I'll request they put me back on hold.

I am picturing thousands of callers bumping to the beat...gonna be hard to get that beat out of your head tonight when you try and go to sleep😂🤣

I don't trust them to call back.

I'm at 2 hours 40 minutes on hold. Just got someone on the chat, but still holding on the phone. LOL. Just in case.

Got my callback while on hold. When this rep put me on hold to run the CC again, the on-hold music was different -- more soft-jazzy and sophisticated. Very tuneful, hope I get to wait for him again sometime.

Press 1 then ask for representative, then an option to press 1 for a call back will happen. They will call in a couple hours.

This is a VERY bad sign for the Morgans and Peace orders. Can you imagine if ALL those orders go on hold and you have to call the Mint in October and November to tell them you still want the orders to be processed?🙄
