Don't know what this is worth . It is solid bronze. Large and heavy. Made by the Franklin Mint.

$4 sounds about right. It looks like it was poor stored resulting in deterioration of the obverse finish. I wonder if the Kennedy topical medals still have a following? They were popular in the years following his death but I haven't heard much mention of them in recent years.

    All glory is fleeting.

@291fifth Toning is called deterioration now? I know not the best photos but the toning looks nice. Blue and red and some orange yellow.

To my eye the "toning" if that is what it is, is unattractive.

And I opened the thread expecting "I bought this Stella for 'face'". :#
From your description you're likely in under "melt", "Large" and "Hefty" are always good attributes for metal discs. ;)
    Nicely done.

    $4? B)

@ColonelJessup A Stella for $4 would have been spectacular. I will never own one unless I hit the lottery.

I am very surprised that the reverse is so pristine after being face down in the case for so many years (assuming that was how it was stored). I guess the box is more stable than I would have expected.

The FM used a thin clear laquer or other finish on many/most/(all?) of its non-numismatic medals that were not in a capsule. I am surprised the obverse was impacted.

@JBK the reverse was down in the case. I don't know anything much about the FM. But for $4 I figured it was definitely worth it.
