i have several red bu coins with and w/o rpm and they seem like they are the same die oddly enough.
they sure make a great argument for 8/7 even though they probably aren't.
link added for posterity.

"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
i'd have to dig to find my images, if i took any.
here is what i am referring to.
that pic doesn't show it as strong as it can be.
odds are low but figured i'd ask if anyone has heard anything.
i'll do a forum search next if there isn't any active comments.
perhaps post a couple images of mine once i clear a runway.
here is a much better picture

I seem to remember (and could be incorrect) hearing this was on a master hub and many dies were produced that show it.
Also, is it still considered an overdate by the variety community, or is this one of Breen's assumptions?
Speaking only for myself, I have handled a few of these and never saw one that convinced me it was an overdate, as compared to, say, a random tool mark on a master die.
Yeah-this was a "Breenism." I seem to remember hearing it was debunked as an overdate.
There is more there than the 1888/7.

I don't want the members here to think I'm a charlatan, but back in the late 80s/early 90s when ANACS was slabbing these, the proceeds from these coins bought a lot of groceries.
There seems be something (S) hiding behind the roof of the 5 at this angle, in this photo.
that is an amazing find! are you willing to share more details about it?
