It Looks Like Probstein is no Longer Accepting Returns

gemintgemint Posts: 6,272 ✭✭✭✭✭

I went to return a few raw cards I won due to hidden flaws and it said the seller does not accept returns. I checked his active listings and, sure enough, it now states no returns. I guess that’ll be the end of my raw card purchases through him. Too many people consign their PSA rejects through him, relying on the lack of description and sometimes rely on no photo of the reverse to hide flaws. Without the ability to return the rejects, it isn’t worth the risk.

Significantly not as described seems to apply here because of undisclosed flaws, so I don't think he will be able to deny your return. At that point I'm sure it will be over for you anyway as I am guessing you would be immediately blocked.

If you haven't figured out yet that dealing with this guy is going to be a PROBLEM if there are any issues, you should know it now.

He is the absolute WORST person I have dealt with in 30 years of buying and selling sportscards.

Surprisingly I haven't had any complaints buying from him. I've never consigned. Graded cards were never a problem and I would get some good raw cards from him too...mostly in the early days. Lately I've been passing on a lot of raw, especially higher $ cards because too many have issues.

I'd never buy a raw card from him anyway but you can still file a SNAD claim. People do it even with grade cards to get refunds let alone raw cards.

As long as you do in the time frame eBay permit's you will get a refund. For good measure also open a Paypal claim, if you used eBay's payment mechanism and not PayPal then contact your card issuer.

NO !!! If you open a Paypal claim or a Credit Card Claim you void the ebay Guarantee.

Correct. The progression for filing a claim is via ebay first, then paypal, then your CC.

I agree with the above. File a claim through ebay, you will get your money back. Claiming to not accept returns hold no water on ebay.

No returns and he couldnt even take pics of the most important cards in the set.
    Extremely lazy or just poor.
Easy listing. He should have have just put them upside down when he took the pictures of the cards. Why even bother with the fronts. 2500.00 listing. Ebay offers 12 free pics. Why not use them. If I sent that item I would be completely unhappy with the sale.

That's really bad. He buries the Ted Signs for 59 card. That's one of many reasons I'll never consign to him. But I'll keep buying as long as it makes sense. By the way, I did get approval for the return.

That's correct. Even if a seller states, "no returns", "as is", "like it or lump it", or any other such language that shirks any seller responsibility whatsoever in professionally providing an accurately represented product to a satisfied buyer, ebay will intercede and remedy for the buyer's behalf once a "not as described" case is opened. That's what that resolution section is for. To force a seller to perform responsibly.

Great. Won an auction for $8 from him for 14 #'d auto Rookies earlier this week for with a bv around $175. Still hadn't shipped them and from his feedback I'm guessing they will not be. Has anyone else been having problems with sellers not sending cards? I've had to file with Ebay 4x in two weeks.

So Probstein doesn't send out cards if the auction price is too low?

And yes I'm having the same problems from a different seller.

The new ebay return policy on sports cards is an interesting one, stepping towards preventing returns after failed flips and market dips:

**_ Effective July 29, 2021, we are updating our eBay Money Back Guarantee policy for trading cards by changing the time frame for buyers requesting a return when the item doesn’t match the listing.

    •

If the seller doesn’t offer returns, you must request a return no later than three (3) calendar days after delivery, instead of 30 days, to return an item when it doesn’t match the listing.

    •

If the seller offers returns, you must request a return within the seller’s return window as stated in the listing.

While you may notice the absence of the eBay Money Back Guarantee badge from trading cards listings, these items will still be covered under eBay Money Back Guarantee as long as all eligibility requirements are met, including returns windows outlined in the policy.

I'm actually okay with the three day return instead of 30. Stops many people from returning items that they couldn't flip or if it didn't get the grade they thought they would. Good week or so for eBay card sellers. No more bid retractions was a also positive imo. If only those pesky cats can stop typing in bids for people who walk away from their keyboards for a second :)

Having sellers remorse is ok, acting on it is not. I have sellers remorse all the time, but I still send the item out, and I try to learn from the experience.
