I saw an old post from one of the registry set owners of toned roosevelt dimes. Ststing that the 61 D is a tough to find with toning and he would buy it for big money.

Interested in this one?

If you looking to sell this, it belongs in the BST Forum.
Also, there is toning, and there is tarnish...
Terminal.
@JBK Dark toning on the back. Doesn't look tarnished but I could be wrong. Anyhow there was somebody looking for a toned one. I will try the BST page Thanks
@Hydrant what do you mean terminal. Bad photos for sure but I don't think dark toning makes it terminal. Possibly could be sent to NCS for conservation to remove toning from the back??? I don't know

Gumby1234. In no way did I mean to be disrespectfull. Please look at the recent thread posted by ChrisH 821 titled "A Decent Haul of David Hall Flips." I posted on that thread about a Whitman Roosevelt Dime folder that I purchased. When I bought that folder MANY of the dimes looked like your coin. I showed the folder to one of the most respected and well known coin experts in the business. His assesment......"Terminal." Over the years , about 15, the coins in that folder that looked like your coin, turned black. And I mean BLACK! I just think your dime might be heading in the same direction. Let's hope not.

Dark toning.
People who pay for toning want it to be attractive. Does anyone think the coin in the first post is attractive?
Maybe the pics are hiding a beauty.
Sell it an run to the bank!

Pretty tarnish is called toning. That coin is just tarnished.
The coin can just as easily be accurately described as toned. Toning can be gorgeous, ugly or anywhere in between.
