ebay - INFORM Consumers Act | “US Innovation and Competition package”/Endless Frontier package"

waited a couple days but don't recall seeing a thread.
will post more info if there isn't already one.
here is one link from my email from government relations at ebay.
https://ebaymainstreet.com/news-events/inform-consumers-act-being-considered-state-federal-levels
there are link(s) somewhere for us to contact our state senators like several times in the past.
Proponents of the INFORM Consumers Act are trying to include it in the “US Innovation and Competition package” (also known as the “Endless Frontier package”) before the Senate breaks for Memorial Day.

Such a ridiculous bill is unlikely to go anywhere.

i obviously hope so. iirc, it is part of a much bigger package. they sent the link to contact our senators etc and to sign the form, which i did immediately. unlikely or not, that would not be something i would be very happy about, so if the least i can do is fill out that quick form (like many we've received over the years and that i've signed/sent, it will be done.
this is a thread that can go off the beaten path real quick and/or get locked but i'll say what i'm going to say next and risk it. although it is mostly a rhetorical question.
what type of people are out there submitting such seemingly obvious and dangerous bills? (there have been many just in the past decade i've really been noticing such things)
maybe i'm being an alarmist with this one since the information that could be made public, is already available with a simple purchase from anyone that has items listed.
anyway, i won't post link(s) in the OP if this is already an active topic and would be a little surprised if it isn't.
For those of us who have absolutely no idea what you're talking about, could you please provide some information rather than purposefully providing none?
I googled and found this article. I am unfamiliar with this web site so I don’t vouch for any accuracy:

Looks like it’s part of the proposed INFORM act. It also has an exclusion apparently for those who work from home.

If you want to sell valuables directly to other collectors and collect money from them, why shouldn’t you be required to identify yourself? If you want anonymity consign to an auction house or a dealer.
I support ebay sellers having to verify themselves to ebay with a government ID before being able to sell on ebay. I also support buyers knowing the name and contact info on who they are sending their money. IMO this will improve buying on ebay and will weed out some, not all, of the crooks, particularly the ones in Asia.
Hopefully the contact info requirement will apply to anyone who sells from any website.

there has been the ability to request contact info about the other party on ebay for a huge amount of time.
has this changed?
sure thing. i was just waiting to make sure i didn't double up on threads. gimme a bit to find the link(s). pretty sure it came in an email from ebay.
