How about a Thursday GTG? ***Grade Revealed***

This is the first coin I purchased with an ANACS photo certificate. It started me down this path of collecting them. What do you think PCGS graded it?
Need a Barber Half with ANACS photo certificate. If you have one for sale please PM me. Current Ebay auctions

I agree with the cert, VF30. I think that’s what PCGS graded as well.
XF40
I like it at 30.
Vf30

I'll guess XF-40
I think I can pickup on several items on the obverse and reverse that might warrant a 35 grade, but overall I feel the coin would be limited to VF30. Good luck. Great coin. Wish I still had mine.

Looks like they got it right.
I'm thinking at least 35, 40 wouldn't shock me...

So how many of you VF 30 guys are grading it like a seated quarter???
I just look at it and decide, then do my research on Photograde to compare. Then I go to Great Collections and Heritage and or Ebay for PCGS grades and compare. Have seen one XF40 grade comparable to this coin and several better. Still just a guess, but somewhat helped.

too much wear for EF, I will go with VF35
I could see it getting a XF40.
I am in the 40 crowd but can't see it in 45.
I'll post the grade later tonight. The reverse is somewhat proof like.
Gonna say 45 but this is a tough one.

Grade revealed in OP
I don't agree with AU50! It would have to be screaming with luster to attain that grade with what I am seeing in your pictures.
I’d have guessed VF35/XF40.
Very interesting post, thanks for sharing.
If I may, I purchased this as a raw VF back in the 80’s for my 7070, and I’ve been told it would likely grade higher by today’s standards. Based on your results, I’d have to agree. And there is some luster and the fields are also somewhat PL.
Very surprising. I had a 1875-cc 20c that had luster remaining and more detail that graded 45 with green bean.
same here, or so I imagined, I admit I am quite surprised.
There is no way this well circulated example will ever bean or change slabs.
There is a reason why so many guessed in these ranges.
I’m going to guess based on the picture of the PCGS slab that it was graded AU50
You also have to take into consideration that this coins was seen in person by PCGS graders and these guesses are based on a photograph.
Well, OK pics actually (better than mine lol), plus anacs cert that is not so far from the truth.
Think about it, no matter when, if anacs graded it vf30 whenever they did, you really think it should be, "these" days, in a AU50 slab?
FWIW, I am overall quite fond of our hosts, and always have been - but in this case, and it can happen, we all human, this one was obviously overgraded likely at 30 seconds before closing, and likely the grader bless his soul was itching to use the facilities or something but no way would this would grade 50 today.
JMHO here, not knocking the piece, I actually like it, it a really nice circulated 20C example, def a keeper.
Cheers
