eBay announced a couple of changes for sellers today.

1) Non Paying Buyers... After 4 days without receiving payment you can cancel the order. You no longer go through the dispute protocol. What they didn't say is if the buyer still gets a strike against them for not paying.

2) Standard Envelope Shipping has been expanded to the coin, currency, post card and stamp categories. The item value has to be under $20 dollars in value and weight less than 3 ounces. The packages must be less than 1/4" thick. Maximum cost for this service is $0.91. This will make it easier to sell single unslabbed coins.

    These are both reasonable changes. I especially like #1.

    Should be 2 days. The buyer can't get his stuff together in 48hrs?

    I want to put that thing up for sale again.

    some people don't keep funds in paypal and it takes 1 to X amount of days to get funds from bank to pp (i added funds recently and it took a VERY long time. did it a couple times just to see if the first time was an exception; it was not.) i think if their pp account won't cover them, then there is an echeck and it still takes a few days. unless an echeck or cc, money order, check is selected, then it should for sure force a 24 hour payment. some people need to wait til the next day if they purchase late or whatever.

    sometimes purchases are spontaneous and some people ride the line run up to the edge for finances so having idle money in pp with no guarantee of a purchase isn't really feasible.

    fwiw, i keep around $30-50 in pp and nearly the same in my cubic-rate shipping account to cover the inevitable costs/fees/spontaneous purchases/surprises etc. but i've been in a pinch before and needed every avialable dollar.

    THAT being said, i agree with you. the return policy and leniency with paying is to cover a world with too little. actually, i'll stop here.

    Am I protected against shipping and delivery issues when using eBay standard envelope (e.g. lost, damage, delays)?

    You are still responsible for getting the order to the buyer in good shape. However, each eBay standard envelope shipment includes a $20 shipping protection plan on a single order and up to $50 on combined orders to help in case of lost or damaged items.

    eBay’s seller levels and performance standards apply as they would for any typical eBay order.

    EBay no longer allows you to update/edit your items without using their managed payments - cutting out PayPal. This change over will affect everyone in 2021 supposedly.

    coin can be valued at more than $20, ebay will insure you for up to $20.

    Up to 3 oz., postage fees:
    1 oz - .51
    2 oz - .71
    3 oz - .91

    When I use flips in an envelope, I leave them open and flat, tape over the insert seam (so the coin does not come loose) to the packing slip. less thickness to an envelope means less possible postage machine damage.

    I don't know. I just tried to use it for a $40 coin and it didn't give me the option claiming the "category and price" made it ineligible.
