Websites to buy U.S. coins and Currency

What are the best coin buying websites? I'm mostly looking for old, cheap, but nice condition U.S. coins and currency.

The sites that have the coins for sale that I want to buy.

For a large selection of graded coins, from $15.00 to tens of thousands, Northeast Numismatics is an excellent place to do business. https://www.northeastcoin.com/index.jsp

You’ll probably get a better response if you ask a question like:
“Where can I find Buffalo nickels in AU to MS grades?” or “Who sells nice, early US type coins?”
all depends on what you want to buy

Attempt to be even more vague and general at the same time and you will receive more useless results.

EBay has a few coins, currency too.

The truest statement ever made on this forum.
We pride ourselves in that fact
When you're done straying from eBay, return to eBay.
A lot of the other websites that one might mention cross-list on eBay. So, you could well find them by perusing eBay.
Now, if you want help in addition to eBay:
There's Heritage, Stack's, Legend, and Great Collections
There's Lyn Knight
There's Northeast Numismatics, L&C coins
There's the entire PCGS directory of member dealers: https://www.pcgs.com/dealers/
There's David Lawrence, Eagle Eye, CRO (Coin Rarities), and Doug Winters
I've been helpful enough for one day. Time to check eBay!
Hmmm....I'm not sure how to take this. It sounds like a joke but looks like it could be serious.
What price range are you looking at? If you are looking at certified coins a couple hundred dollars and up, GC and Heritage would be good bets. If you are looking for uncertified coins and/or lower price range $100 or less you will probably pay less on eBay than on dealer websites.
I have to agree with this one Dark, good site and good prices... Of course you can also trust LordM, he'll do you right as well

BST & Northeast Numismatics (NEN) are two that I use. Also Sarasota Numismatics & Park Avenue Numismatics.

Northern Nevada Coin, Northeast Numismatics, Coast to Coast. Auction wise number 1 is Great Collections
. Then of course eBay.
I like ebay, but I stick with a few dealers that I am comfortable with. I collect colonials so those particular dealers may not be of help to you. Littleton has good stuff but they are very pricy.
The best place to buy all depends upon your budget and expectations. And some places are better than others depending upon what you’re looking for.
JJ Teaparty and David Kahn also come to mind.
The OP's name fits well.

this will not end well.
Who is the forum exorcist?
Boy, I don't think I'd ask 666 to contact Lord anybody.

those two dealers and others mentioned in the thread are certainly reputable and fine dealers, but they don't have much to offer when looking for coins in the $10-$20 range as the OP is looking for.
it's hard to be honest without sounding cruel, but when you routinely ask for cheap coins and supplies the odds are in your favor that you'll end up with cheap coins and supplies. that coin dealer in the Little Town in New England is not a good place to be excited about buying coins, unless the goal is to be buried.
as I said, this will not end well.
littleton seems overpriced to some.
in my sig line is a list of web sites. there is a section for dealers.
this list is only maintained by notification. if there are broken links, then they weren't there when I started... so notify me. if you happen across a good, unlisted web site... notify me.
Did I miss it? When did the OP say he is looking for $10-$20 coins?
That definitely narrows down the number of options, especially when eBay is off the table.
Dark is a YN, so no, he's not out to buy top end coins, not yet anyway. He is however learning more every day and it is much easier and more fun to learn with examples in hand and that is a big part of what he is looking for. I suggested LordM to him as they know each other already from CT, that and i also know LordM has a soft spot for YNs (or was that a soft spot in his head?... same difference hehe). So give Dark a lil bit of a break he's a good kid

eBay.
learn to spot cleaned and damaged and altered coins, then hit ebay.
there is the local coin store. I'm not up on coin store operations, but if they take whole collections, then there just has to be stuff you can paw through before they unload it. (some store owner clue me in)
perhaps inquiring here before the ebay purchases would help, too.
you'd also do better raising your limit to $50 and buying half as many items.
DarkRage666, I have over 1700 buys on eBay. ( not all coins ) Only had one bad experience.
With $20, you are better off buying a book on grading coins.
Avoid problem and damaged coins.
Start with Wide AM Lincoln Cent varieties...
You will be shocked what you find in pocket change.
Sell a few Wide AM examples and you war chest will grow.
Once you get to $100 and own both Cherry Picker Guides you can do some real damage on Ebay.
I once got a $50 Silver certificate in change from the bank.
Go from bank to bank where you have an account and keep making change for $1, $5, $10, $20's and look for error notes.

If you don't spend the $20 now, you may someday have $30 or $40.
Really? You have moved on from wanting old, cheap, nice US type coin dealers to green lasers from the Russian Federation and shipped from China?
My US Mint Commemorative Medal Set
Be extremely careful with "cheap" lasers. Many do not have the proper filtering and emit invisible IR which can just as easily, or more easily damage your eyes than the beam. IMO these should be an import restricted item.
There is a very good video on YouTube about the dangers of cheap green lasers.
From https://skyandtelescope.org/astronomy-news/observing-news/green-lasers-a-hidden-danger/
"In most units, a careful combination of transmissive and antireflective coatings, together with an infrared-blocking filter right at the end of the beam path, keeps all the infrared energy bottled up — all that comes out of that little hole is pure green light at a wavelength of 532 nm.
But the researchers found that really inexpensive green lasers not only have very poor conversion efficiency but can also lack an infrared filter altogether. In their study, the researchers tested a flawed unit that releases nine times more infrared energy than green light. Normally this wouldn't be a concern — anyone who accidentally gets an eyeful of laser light will blink and recoil instinctively. However, shine this defective laser at a modern energy-saving window, and the infrared beam gets reflected back at you (or someone else nearby) even though the green light passes through."
It's gotta be said- "you'll shoot your eye out"
Any coin will be a better investment than a laser.
Collector, occasional seller
I used to order coins from Jake's in Chicago a lot - but I'm above their pay grade now, since I'm looking for such merchandise as those Seated Liberty coins from the 1880s.
The problem with "survival of the fittest" is that it sounds totally awesome - so long as it is someone else's survival that is at stake
Buy the coin, not the laser. LOL

I doubt it. Also most of what's on Walmart's website anymore isn't actually sold by them. Notice the "Sold and shipped by Bruce Shark LLC" on that item.
Walmart is trying to compete with amazon by letting other vendors use their already established website as a point of sale. At least that's how I see it.

Littleton coin will overcharge you every time but they are safe.
